Unless you properly canned the soup (boiled the jars, etc etc), then two weeks is too much for leftover soup in the fridge.
Just because you've dealt ok with a little mold in the past doesn't mean you should punish yourself by eating it. Food poisoning is ughhh.
ESPECIALLY right now, if you end up needing to go to urgent care or the ER?
Just give yourself a break. Just chuck it in the bin, and take it as a lesson for next time. :)

My school, like pretty much all public and public charter schools in DC, is closed until March 31st. Obviously school closing is a big deal for kids and their families. The middle school kids at my school already have their own iPads since the beginning of the year so it’s easily to assign some stuff on there, which is a big help.

My night classes are going to be online. Basically my schedule is going to be very different all of a sudden.

At least the cherry blossoms in DC are still blooming.

I'm not surprised. I switched to working at home full-time (I had been going into the office two days a week), and I'm going out as little as posssible (getting groceries home-delivered, etc).

These are strange and difficult times, and I don't know if or when life will get back to normal. Maybe there is no more normal to go back to. I suspect that's the case. But I hope that things get better (and less crazy) for all of us soon.

I ate the soup. It was fine.

And this pandemic panic will be over in a few weeks. Certain measures were necessary to prevent an uncontrolled spread that would overwhelm the health care system — to "flatten the curve", as they say — but everything else that is dominating the media right now is pure hysteria. (Media? Hysteria? Gee, I wonder if there is a connection.)

If there is any lasting effect, it will be that people will realize remote working and online education is quite feasible in many cases where they previously thought it wasn't, and that in turn will decrease the prestige of many brick-and-mortar institutions and the administrators who control them. In other words, it's the Amazon-ification of the rest of society. It was going to happen sooner or later, current events are just accelerating it a bit.

This is absolutely not going to blow over in just a few weeks. It will be exponentially worse in a few weeks. We'll be sorry that people weren't panicking enough.

I cannot predict the future, but I am pessimistic.

In other news, I ordered a resistance band home workout kit today, but I was considering it for months, it has nothing to do with not wanting to leave the apartment because of Covid-19.

I'm inclined to agree. And with god knows how many unreported tests, we don't even know the exact number of cases right now.

Former Surgeon General, Vivek Murthy, has an informative (and concerning) thread on Twitter about the lack of testing:

"I wish I could just take a month off from work, stay at home, hack away at some of my enormous backlog of unwatched video, and work on projects that I don't normally have time or energy to do."

Be careful what you wish for, because it might come true!

In spite of the lost income, I'm actually looking forward to my government-imposed staycation. Whenever I've taken more than a day or two off from work, it has involved travel: seeing family and/or friends, going to conferences, or tourism abroad. Being able to sleep in to my heart's content and be my own master for three weeks will be incredibly strange to me. Not having to listen to my boss's voice for that long will be absolutely glorious.

Even though my day job is completely shut down, I do have some paid work to do. I still have about 18 hours to go on a freelance indexing project that will pay about the same as the three weeks that I'm missing. But that hardly counts as "work" at all, especially since my deadline isn't until the end of the month.
