Oh, well - now I have a 4+ pound bag of chocolate eyeballs and vampire lips that I'll just have to deal with. XD

 No kids showed here. I feel like I invited the world to my birthday party and no one came. I even mowed the lawn and gardened up my flowers so it looked like a home. :smiling: No ducks, and now no kids on Halloween? Oh well, stuck with a bunch of candy that I like anyway.

That's why I always buy candy that I know I'll like. XD

The only "kids" in this neighborhood are actually teenagers, and everyone else is above the age of 60, so Halloween clearly isn't a thing here. XD

Was able to pick a somewhat new insurance plan today. It's the same carrier we (me & my mom) have now, just some differences in the actual plan.
It has an out-of-pocket of $1,000, but there's no deductible. PCP visits and generic prescriptions are both $0 co-pays, still $5 for specialists, and the premium is less than $40 a month!
Couldn't keep the plan we have now if we wanted to. That premium would've been $200 a month, and we couldn't even use the dental portion.
Also found a good dental plan for less than $30 a month, so I guess all we need to worry about now is vision.

It looks like the Halloween street party in Shibuya has peaked. Like the last two years…

…I've been searching for a good video that showcases the costumes and fun. But most of the videos I'm finding this year show that the party has been overrun by tourists and expats, and the feel of it is basically the same as Mardi Gras in New Orleans or New Year's Eve in New York.

I'm sure it will continue to be a thing in coming years, unless the Tokyo Metropolitan government cracks down on it somehow, but… yeah.

Halloween is a weird time in my neighborhood. There were enough kids (with their parents) trick-or-treating outside as usual. There were also hundreds of teenagers outside vandalizing cars with fireworks and attacking university students near their dormitory. This was also not unusual based on how things have been in the past few years.

OK, then - I'll settle for a very sleepy neighborhood where even the cats are too lazy to start acting up on Halloween. XD

And I was at the office, looking at Facebook, when I saw that Sushi Maumee Bay (which is speech-to-text for TsuShiMaMiRe) was going to play an unscheduled gig at a skate shop in Fullerton, so here I am at the Burger King, waiting for the show to start. And what can I say? It's a skate shop gig.
And that is the great and horrible thing about 2018. Half the people who show up at a more or less punk gig at a skate shop in Orange County look like they're is old as me, and they may very well be.
Okay. I think I'm in an insane and somewhat nihilistic mood. I'm standing outside with a few other people waiting for one of the opening bands to get done, and I find myself thinking, Am I waiting for the 21st century to end, or is it still the 20th century?
And this is without a doubt the real OC. There's a vape store, a gamer supply shop and a skate shop all right next to each other. And in the middle of them is a flower shop, just in case you managed to injure yourself vaping, gaming, or skating. And I swear that across the street there are two more skate shops, although one of them maybe a surf shop. But it all has that OC air of infinitely extended adolescence taken to a degree that makes my own extended adolescence look almost amateurish.
Edit: I just got out. It was a great gig! There were only about 20 people there, but that was perfect for a skate shop. I bought their latest CD, and talked with them a little bit afterwards. I still feel slightly insane and nihilistic, but in a good way. XD

*sigh* I'm still brokenhearted from having to miss their S.F. show.

At least I arranged for a friend to buy some merch for me. I still need to call him to see how that went.

It was a good show, but it almost seems like random luck that I wound up there. I really didn't want to drive through Hollywood on Halloween to see them at the Viper Room, and I wasn't looking forward to driving to Long Beach on a Friday night to see them, either (although I would have, if there had been no alertnative). As it was, the show tonight was free, but I bought a CD from Mari, so they did get some money from me (which I'm sure they needed, since their tours are always on a shoestring budget).

Yeah, that was also my primary motivation for having my friend pick up some merch for me. Plus, I needed to get Night and Morning anyway....
