i think it's a really cute PV, even though it is pretty all over the place. i mean... why are they vanishing into a pile of clothes? why are they in a forest?
but overall, it really shows off the members personalities, and introduced the new girls in a really cool way.

also Kanon got quite a few solo shots compared to normal - to make up for the recent Karin uproar?

It seems like the director listened to the song over 1000 times to make each scene as relevant and connected to the lyircs/messag of the song as much as possible.

Ayumi also choreographed the cheerleading part.

This PV managed to be creative and to show off a lot of the dance.

i'm surprised people think the dance was more shown off in this one.. except for the dance break/bridge, i thought the dance scenes on the field made it so you couldn't really see the formation dance and all that.

that being said, i totally love this.

i see both the pros and the cons, and i see why UF made their own version (whether they did so before or after learning what Shibue's vision for his version was). Shibue has a ton of creativity, an awesome sense of humor, unique perspective, great ideas, and a good style and eye, talent with CG, but he needs to learn to edit more. it's a common problem for artists.. it's hard to let go of cool elements/ideas/shots/etc, but if you want something to be truly outstanding you have to be able to let go of a lot. that's why they say less is more.. most of us will watch this video multiple times, but casual viewers won't. if it looked a little messy/chaotic on first watch, they won't get a chance to watch it again to appreciate the little things.

also the video editing itself was lacking something, maybe more angles or i dunno.. i'm not a filmmaker lol. and maybe that stuff could have improved with more time or a bigger budget, but if he were doing non-contest PV's he probably wouldn't get much flexibility on those things either.

i guess i spoke mostly about the cons, but i really really enjoy this, and will be watching many more times, and daydreaming of how freaking flawless it would have been (like MV award, or at least viral video, flawless) as more of a collaboration between Shibue and UF/another director (cuz it definitely felt like 95% Shibue.. which makes sense for a contest) and with more time/money/promotion.

I like how the older members are whispering the chant to the younger members in some shots, like they're giving them advice.

There are things I prefer about each video. I think H!P's version shows the dance and coolness of the group more, while this one focuses more on the members' individual personalities. As iceymoon said, this could have been so epic if it had been a joint effort between Shibue and the company. Shibue's creativity + H!P's professionalism would make the perfect combination. Actually, I hope maybe they'll work with him more in the future.

I like it! The train scenes and the end were very nice! Anyone else going to listen to Seishun on the train commute with this PV in mind, cause I definitely will hehe

I can see a reason why he put all the scenes he did in. A lot are new beginning related (like destroying the shoji screen and the sakura) or a sempai to kouhai thing (the Da Vinci scenes, the cheering scenes). I actually saw their losing of their clothes as their magical girl transformation from normal girls into idols. I also don't mind the amount or editing and in fact didn't notice either.

And I think the reason why I feel the dance is shown off well is the way it'll focus on certain parts. This dance has A LOT going on (It's as busy as this video. Which in the official is made worse by the distraction of those super sparkle dresses), so when the crouching girls 'disappear' I actually get to catch what's going on. And then the dance break, which other than Riho, I could never catch anything, so until this video, I legitimately hadn't realized Mizuki had a special part as well. They seem like an incredibly talented dance group in that moment instead of a normal talented formation dance group.

It's really divided about this video which is really interesting. I do feel like this is more accessible to casual fans though.
