^^Did you miss the part where this is the Hello! Station version? That'll be shown nowhere else? The main version of the MV is the promotion edit, which is what the contest winner (probably) directed?
It's could also be that it's a copyright thing. UF may not be able to hold onto the rights of his MV forever, or may only be able to use it for certain things, and I think in that case -- maybe -- they decided to make their own. I could be talking out of my ass here though.
The MV itself, when it gets uploaded on YouTube, and when it gets released on the DVD and future collections, will have WAY more publicity and views than the H!S version. Most people will ignore this version.
Also, I might be the only one, but I like H!P's MVs. Yes, I'd like it if they'd experiment more, but they're simple. And I like that. And I'd also rather have them spend their budget on the songs and promotion rather than on the MV. I'm sure they could do better.
You know what, though? H!P's had cheap, basic MVs since the beginning. There have been a couple of exceptions, but on the whole, they follow the same formula. That ain't gonna change any time soon tbh.
