Just because they hit 30k doesn't mean they can't get 40k when this sigle is done charting.

But how you approached the situation, 321, was unfair. I love Berryz too, but I'm not going to be a bad sport and say "An Egg Group. That just debuted LAST YEAR is doing better than you guys!". Atleast the girls are trying. It is harder for them than it is for anyone else.

It's only 6k lower than the first week sales of their last single. A bit disappointing sure but nothing to freak out about. If I read some comments before seeing the actual numbers I would have thought they sold like 10k or something

but if the next single has a 5-6k drop...:fear:

When you look at their nearest comparable rival this week they completely kicked Fairies ass. :whistling:

I'm not a bad sport. They're under the same agency. Why they aren't selling more than a fairly new group is a little underwhelming if you ask me

See, the point isn't that they "can survive on 30,000 sales" imo.
I think it's more than that.
While every other group has been increasing in sales, Berryz has been too... But if we see that in their upcoming single, C-ute, Smileage, and J=J all increase in sales, it will show us something: Berryz is the only one that hasn't increased sales so far.
...That is assuming that all the other groups increase in sales.
I think that it's more than "they can survive on 30,000 sales"... I think it's that "If they aren't up to the standards of the other groups, it won't end well."
No Berryz, No Life.
Please people, I'm a "he" not a "she".

Maybe it's not a popular opinion here, but I think Berryz' output has been mostly weak for a while now. Now, I really love Diet, but it's insanely first-listener-unfriendly. This all while J=J gets nothing but top-notch singles on top of being a shiny and new idol group. So yeah, not the best comparison.

I apparently dug Diet a lot sooner than most. I think it's pretty tragic if Japan doesn't get the proper opportunity to appreciate the wonder that is Diet, and it really should have been the lead a-side. Further to that, promotion for this single has been pretty underwhelming, so I have to wonder if Japan really got to hear it at all.

I'm surprised to hear that so many people preferred the last single. I feel like this is not only a much catchier, cohesive single, but completely in Berryz element, where the last single was two extremes of "could this be the future of Berryz?".

I love Diet. I wish this single would have sold better. Diet is heading back towards what I associate with berryz. Otona na no yo! Is more in line with Motto Zutto. Sort of Berryz acting like kind of like C-ute. Like those two songs are good, but just not what I think of when I think of Berryz. Diet is my favorite Berryz song in a while.

this is backwards. if anything, Juice=Juice being a new group gives them a boost. when groups debut in Hello! Project, people are already watching.. it's not like groups that are created for an independent agency that have to struggle to be followed by even 1000 people. and nowadays some of the H!P girls come with fans built-in due to them having come from kenshuusei. Tsunku also has a fresh concept to work with when a new group is created, and so presumably has more initial inspiration for their style/songs. and if what people have said is true, he has even favored J=J with the best songs (probably as a way to help their initial popularity).

S/mileage benefitted from this same debut boost, and it was only later that they settled into their lower and more constant sales numbers. Berryz experienced the same thing, a boost in sales due to the buzz of them debuting, and then leveling out about a year after their major debut. i'm not sure if ℃-ute experienced the same thing, i feel like their debut buzz was stretched out too long during their indies time, and so by the time of their major debut it had already fizzled out somewhat.

a year after their major debut, Juice=Juice will maybe level out again. i say maybe because HelloPro as a whole is experiencing a buzz boost right now, so J=J may experience a rise in sales even as their buzz levels out. or, best case scenario, a year from their major debut they go all ℃-ute on us and get really popular based on talent/appeal alone, supported by a rise in promotion and production level on UF's side.

Rock Erotic > Diet > Motto Zutto > Otona tbh.
