If you're willing to give it another try, please do. It starts getting better around 1x08, "Father's Day". And then when you get to the 2005 Christmas Special and the Tenth Doctor, it shifts into second gear and smooths out.
I've been watching more. Almost done with the season. "The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances" is definitely great. Billie Piper annoyed me at the beginning of the season, but I'm fine with her now. By the way, I actually remember her as a pop artist over ten years ago because a few of her music videos popped up on TV.
