I hate the insects in Animal Crossing. I only had the chance to buy a net today so I never bothered with them until today. Got stung by a bee after shaking a tree. :@

edit: Fishing is so much better. Just got two sharks in a row.

Animal Crossing does sound a lot more entertaining than everyday life! XD

Although I did see someone catch a (very small) sand shark on a regular fishing line once -- it was at the end of a pier, and the shark fought for about two hours. :fear:

Chance and I both failed to grasp the subtleties of catching sharks until a couple of days ago. ^^;;;;;

I got a men's toilet the other day, but one of the neighbors ended up wanting it, so now it's in their house.

I'll finally get to go to the tropical island tomorrow.

Ended up getting another shark. I caught them easily today, but the first time I encountered one (it was a saw shark) it took me several trials. Good thing they keep coming back though, except yesterday when I walked into a building and the shark I tried to catch never came back.

Today I learned that the famous running noise from "The Flinstones" was created using bare hands on a leather couch. That's probably way more interesting to me than it should be.

When I was a game script writer at AMS, I also put together/edited the audio track for The Secret of the Lost Woods. We bought a bunch of sound-effects records (back then, everything was on vinyl :wacko: ), and I had to repeatedly listen to every track that we used at high volume through earphones as I transferred them to 1/4 inch tape in the correct sequence and with the right timing.
It wasn't too bad, for the most part. But there was a point in the game where if the player made a moderately dumb move, he/she would get eaten by a rather neurotic, fussy dragon (one of my characters XD ) -- and the sound that we used for that was one that absolutely set my teeth on edge: a huge dog slobbering over a bone, which I naturally had to listen to far too many times at much too loud a volume. Every time I had to listen to it, I just wanted to scream and run out of the building. :crazy:

I can't imagine just listening to random sounds for that long, especially if I hit one that worked it's way into "nails on a chalkboard" levels of annoyance. It's always interesting to see how certain sounds are originally made though, since so many of them come from objects/places you would never expect.

It kind of works the same way visually -- I like to take photographs of things just for their texture, then crop and alter the pictures so all you see is the texture, without knowing what it originally was.

Well, that consumed a lot of my time. I didn't even really go swimming/diving. Most just caught bugs and fish (got two whale sharks).

On the topic of television, I've been wanting to watch The Walking Dead, but I'm wondering whether it's scary. I just am not good with watching anything scary, especially when I just watch stuff on my laptop alone most of the time.

Maybe I'll try an episode.
