I just remembered something Tsunku said during the 12th gen announcement, something about diluting AKB's presence. If he can't find a girl he would go by numbers. I guess he found his girl.

The kenshuusei auditions have been postponed for every audition since 2011 haha it's nothing new really. These auditions give us new kenshuusei anyway. Better to kill 2 birds with one stone.

I don't know if Sakura auditioned for 10th gen, but she did audition for S/mileage's 2nd gen and she was put to the kenshuushei soon afterwards.

I am *rather* sure she didn't audition for 10th gen because I remember it taking quite a while before we saw some of the 10th gen finalists show up in the eggs. Like I remember some of the s/mileage audition finalists showing up and then being "Oh so if THESE are showing now, maybe we'll get Sara as an egg in a few months" and then it didn't happen when we did get a few of those 10th gen audition girls. I could be wrong though but I do think it was much later.

at all the MM handshake events at the different prefectures today, they were handing out the fliers for Morning Musume audition

They were also passing out flyers/applications for the 12th generation audition to everyone there, I don't know if that is normal promotion, but I know it worked. I saw middle schoolers who were just shopping for cd's pick up the flyer and say it would be cool to join!
