...so you think he announces an audition and everything it comes with, only so he can say "no one"? I really don't think so. xD We're just not used to having new girls all the time. 2011 was insane, but even so. It's been one audition/year since 2010 now so. It's not really that surprising.

I think H!P has taken much tighter control of the process now just so that won't happen -- or if it does, all the carnage will be behind the scenes. For one thing, they can always go into it planning to add one of the kenshuuwhatever huevos rancheros y machacas eggs, just so they won't come up empty-handed. XD

I don't think there's ever going to be another Lucky 7. H!P burned through a lot of goodwill with that debacle. Arguably that disappointing mess set the stage for AKB's eventual takeover. And despite what Tsunku said about not settling, in any audition with thousands of girls there's going to be one or two at least who are good enough to give them a shot. Better do that then alienate their entire meticulously rebuilt female fanbase. If the winner's a flake, she can always resign like Asuka.

Amd as I recall, there actually were at least a couple of girls from the Unlucky 7 who would probably have been good on their own, if the whole process hadn't exploded in such a public way -- which is, I'm sure, one reason why the current process is much more under wraps.

Yeah he did a huge mistake for the group back then. He obviously thought he had the room/margin/space/composure (余裕lol) to not pass anyone, which is why he said no one, but look at what happened. He obviously didn't. There's no way that'll happen again, and especially not when they're getting more popular. No matter how much of a downer it might be for many - especially international fans - adding girls is a way to stay relevant and to get new fans.

Lucky 7 was a waste of time and investment. As UFP is on a budget, they are not going to let auditions go to waste anymore.

But yet again, Roxy Girl was a waste of time and investment as well. Already 2 auditions wasted because they didn't found a good vocalist or guitarist the first time, then someone leaked the list of qualifiers the second time.

Since when are they on a budget (other than all companies are that is lol). Didn't we get info not too long ago that surprised most of us cause they were doing so well? lol

I just hope there isn't another Tashima Meru, who most likely entered the audition just to be scouted and then go for the ***48 groups. Other girls may think they could do the same and have their big break. And it would seem that having passed the first round or higher of a MM audition is a great thing to have on your resume.

Anyway, that could potentally bring many girls into the auditions, so it can't be all that bad I think. I just hope no one quits before the final presentation or smtg like that.
