She auditioned for S/mileage, made it to the final round, and then was added to the Kenshuusei (with Yamaga Kanae) from there. She wasn't even a trainee for a full year.

She probably started to mature right away when she got hired as a trainee and after a couple of months was already markedly better than the rest of the bunch. You still want the process to be fair so you still hold auditions, but in reality, you've already seen that this person is more than qualified to get a promotion, and you're anxious to get them started as soon as possible.

That happens a lot, even in non-idol jobs.

Going back to the S/mileage auditions and realizing how less than stellar she was makes it all the more surprising that she was able to learn and pull a complete turn around so quickly. It should be interesting seeing where she is a year or so from now with some major activities under her belt.

Oops @ my post. But yeah, it's not necessarily unfair to already have experience in the company.

Also, of course they need to have the winners of the auditions be the few chosen out of the thousands so it's impressive. Well, plus all the publicity stuff associated.

From the article, it looks like he's also saying to look out for new developments with Hello Project -- which could just be standard entertainment-industry promo talk, or maybe he's got some interesting things up his sleeve.

Maybe they had some reason to hurry up and specifically add Sakura (Was AKB showing interest in her? That would be just too funny if they got into a bidding war. ), but they're still considering a few of the others...

Or maybe Tsunku really is the biggest troll of all...
