[10/10] Morning Musume : Wakuteka Take a chance

Without watching the video, I sit down and listen to this song and I notice that the producer is now starting to tread into the realm of the music I like (techno/dubstep/etc). This in my opinion, is a very good thing as long as the pace is kept up. So far I've heard two out of three fantastic songs at least in my opinion. I'm sure most like Renai Hunter but I didn't get as much out of it as most did. I am very interested in the this "new sound" that they are experimenting with and I'm sure it'll get better the more it is played with.

Now watching the video, I think the group overall did a good performance. There was some slick dance moves performed that had some "edge" to them and while I'm sure there are nit-picky fucks on here breaking down each motion of physics some of the girls are doing, I can say it was a great effort overall.

The three that stuck out to me however was Riho and Ayumi obviously, as they seem to dance pretty much flawlessly, and surprisingly Zuki I think is her name had a very good run especially since she seemed to spend a lot of time up front.

Not a single girl seemed to really stand out as totally awful. Slightly awkward maybe but nothing that threw the routine out of sync.


I give it 3.5/5 stars or two thumbs up. Whichever you like.

I think Tsunku's first experiment with this style was with Pyoko-Pyoko Ultra's c/w and was trying to check out if people liked it or not.
I guess he received good enough feedback from it to take it into his A-sides.
I remember hearing Kanashiki Koi no Melody for the first time and just going :O this. Is. Awesome.

Kanashiki Koi no Melody should have been the A-Side. Many agree it was a wasted opportunity. I though Pyoko Pyoko Ultra was cute, but A-Side material it was not. Sales proved it. It was the lowest MoMusu single beating Mikan. That must have been the warning sign that he needed a different direction.

It would be sad if Ayumi and Haruka won't be in the dance scenes, but perhaps they can release another version when the girls recover.

You really, really have to like the girls so much to get past the initial knee-jerk reactions to the costume . I didn't have a problem with the song at all when they're dancing to it in seifuku at suugaku joshi gakuen lol

Maji Desu Ka? Ska! Had much more meaning as a -intro to the new generation- type song, had better outfits and was even more catchy than Pyoko Pyoko Ultra. That's at least my opinion. Pyoko Pyoko is cute and catchy, but its too childish of a song for Morning Musume. It would have been an amazing song for maybe S/mileage. Although, I don't know how I would feel with S/mileage in chicken outfits...

Kanashiki Koi no Melody would have been better for not only many Morning Musume fans, but for mainstream appeal. Morning Musume needs to show its a serious upcoming group and needs to gain more casual fans. Pyoko Pyoko Ultra didn't have that sort of appeal.
