I don't get why these girls cry so much at all, especially in front of strangers in a professional setting. You'd think they're all old enough not to do that.

Ai-chan cried, but what I loved about Ai-chan was that she channeled that emotion and worked harder eventually improving.

Mogi cried alot more and didn't improve.... that is why she is forever Tragic-chan.

She wasn't ready for MoMusu then. You can tell it would all be too much for her, but as much as I don't like Mogi and don't feel she is ready yet I can't help but love the story of the girl who was tragic-chan, joins the eggs, auditions 3 times and suddenly on the 3rd try is an amazing singer and dancer and actually looks a bit prettier... and then gets in! Beats Tanaka Reina's had to audition twice thing for sure. Although Mogi didn't look that cute in the 2 seconds of her via that teaser, her singing has FINALLY improved so anything is possible.

But then again its still earlier and she might not even make it...

... I still have that feeling though...

One said thing for me is that when ever I thing of Mogi I think of the Anime OVA series Nurse Witch Komugi which features Nakahara Komugi as the heroine, a flat chested bottom of the barrel cosplay idol who sings in a ear bleed inducing nasal voice. Komugi's Idol name was Mugi Mugi Komugi.

Actually, you're right. This is the man that chose Aika over Kikkawa You anything's possible.

I think Tsunku made the correct call there. By not picking Kikkawa Yuu it gave her a chance to not grow up in public and mature into the Kikkawa You that we know today. And, Aika was doing okay before she had to leave Morning Musume for medical reasons. If Aika had been given 8-10 years to work with instead of 5 years no one would be thinking that the gen 8 auditions were strange. After all, look how many years it took for her contemporaries to get over.

Because they're told that they suck and are incapable of joining if they keep sucking? I'd understand why people would cry over that. I probably would, no matter if they're strangers or not.

Does not! Reina applied despite being too young and managed to get towards the final rounds lying about her age. Mogi'll never beat that no matter how many times she tries. xD

At this point, I'd like to point out that with almost nothing to go on except for a few minutes of footage of some of the Kenshuusei auditioning for the third round, plus a few random tweets, 2ch posts, and rumors, we've managed to come up with 35 pages of intense, partisan, multilayered, utterly non-rational drama with almost no factual content.

In other words, WE'RE RIGHT ON TARGET!!!

But remember -- if we want to maintain our usual high standards for audition threads, we've got to hit at least 100 pages before the final results are even announced -- and at least 130 total!
