well, not that it's not a sneaky scam, but the fact that the information is up for you to see before you buy it makes it kind of... hard to dispute. so i'm not sure whether eBay does anything about it now (they didn't before).

LOL try it! they might refuse though.

It's what people have done for years on ebay to tempt people to buy an item. $65.99 is not a particularly bad price for it especially since it's not a common item on Ebay. A dispute won't do anything since you knew before you bid on it what the shipping would be.

Good item though. It's a decent display piece to have since they have not done many figure sets and even less that actually look good.

the point isn't that $65.99 isn't a bad price for it, the point is that they do it that way because if they put $65.99 as the buy price, nobody bids on it. nobody was actually willing to pay that much (and item is really only worth what people are willing to pay for it), they just hope to make somebody who doesn't notice be stuck with it. and they do.

it's a scam. kind of like when infomercials tell you they'll give you your money back if you're not satisfied, you just pay to ship it back. it's true. but it turns out shipping it back is expensive, so most people just end up stuck with something they don't want.

That particular dealer (new-mtk) does that a lot. Sometimes it evens out okay, though: I bought a copy of the Hello! Channel Vol. 4 mook from him earlier this year for $0.99 (+ $14.00 shipping).

He often does the reverse, too: high opening bid or buy it now price with free shipping. More often than not, I think his stuff is overpriced.

A lot of the Ebay dealers put premiums on the shipping. Even Dora as cheap as his stuff usually is adds extras on the shipping so he makes a profit from each one. And he gets all his stuff for next to nothing from Book Off and Yahoo Auctions. But i guess you just have to pick the lesser evil when it comes to ebayers pushing prices up.

Don't even get my started on what some people try to get people to pay for idol autographs XD

This is mine and Vanessa's haul from Ultra Smart (With some Winter 2012 in the second picture). I think we both dropped around 400 dollars on this concert (We also have pinups that aren't in these) AND I'm not done yet ; ;

To be fair, $70 is usually the asking price I see for that Love Machine figure set on eBay. I know this because I've wanted it forever but am not willing to pay that much for it. So you could say that even in this case it does even out in a way.

^ As I mentioned to DARC in a PM, there are several sets currently up for auction on Yahoo Auctions Japan, with starting bids ranging from ¥2,980 to ¥16,000.

Like the guy on Yahoo Auctions Japan who is trying to sell a 6th gen debut event autograph card for an opening bid of ¥150,000 — or buy it now for ¥300,000: http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m65075936

I got one of those at TRIO 2 in Tokyo with the mini-photobook and event DVD for ¥4200. XD

With YAJ if you are buying outside of Japan you need to take into account the deputy fees and shipping which in all may add up to over $70 depending on the bid you win at. In all i think you got a pretty good price even if the tactics to sell it at that price were a bit sneaky.

And yes that is the kind of thing i am talking about. It happens a bunch on ebay too with people asking way over what they are worth for autographs. Even saw one on YAJ which has some sort of insane buy it now price like a million yen or something crazy.

Kinda sucks that some people who don't understand how common most autographs are will get scammed into paying stupid amounts for a single member signed poster.
