Well, when Yasuda and Yaguchi were hired I don't think that Morning Musume considered themselves to be an idol group so it wouldn't be surprising for them to pick singing ability over looks.

While I agree that Tsuji was a 5 when she started, she was picked because her and Aibon added up to ten ...

I try and try and try and IMO she just looks a bit better than average. Her face just seems... Wide to me? But I will say this about her; she easily has one of the best smiles.
And sorry Sayu, Haruna is definitely up there on the prettiest MM ranking. Kinda not fair though, she is (was) a model.

But does she really need it? Haruka and Masaki defz need it but they're also young and will grow into whatever looks they have. Kanon still needs one, Mizuki was born an idol, and Riho and Ayumi don't need one as much either. Eripon has started her idol transformation.

Haruna is just gorgeous, she'll probably go through haircuts and stuff but other than I don't really think she needs much.

IDK Maybe is my bias talking but for me MM is a extremely pretty group. Like none of the current memebers is ugly. Is so common in other idol groups to have some pretty members on the front and the so-so memeber in the back, but in MM any girl is front material
