Nadia is much better, and it came eleven years before Atlantis. I'm just saying it will seem familiar (which is, in fact, a euphemism for "Disney ripped them off").
I think it's amusing. Early Japanese animation borrowed the styling from Western animation (such as Mickey Mouse), then several decades later, Western animation borrowed from Japanese animation.
It's kind of funny how it goes with both styles borrowing from each other. Even in more recent times like when Gainax did Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt they took a lot of ideas from western animation and payed homage to it. Being a fan of a lot of 80's and 90's cartoons i loved spotting all the little parodies.
I've been meaning to watch that, actually. Seems like it's right up my alley. Maybe I'll get around to it after I finish Mitsudomoe.
But they also do really weird, unexplainable things like Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. Which only makes sense if you have a knowledge of how the Japanese language works. And even then it's odd (but also awesome).
^ Mitsudomoe is such a hilarious show. Actually now i want to see H!P versions of those opening themes. Not sure of the line ups that would work best though.
