Sayu absolutely needs to be the next leader. This talk with Risa shows that she already thinks a lot about the group and each member's role in it. And that's on top of her high visibility as a talent, her considerable wit, and obviously her seniority.

Which is why I'm very concerned that they haven't already announced it. It should be a given at this point.

Also, Eripon looks unusually good here. She's definitely calming down and growing into her looks.

This is so true it's ridiculous, but also becomes even more prominent when you think about the other option: Reina.
I like Reina, and part of why I like her is because she has this attitude of, "Whatever." I find that funny/entertaining and would never want her to change. But as a leader, it could be really bad.. She doesn't think too deeply on a lot of things, she instead makes a quick assumption and then puts it out of her mind. She also has "Why do I have to do it?" moods, and instead goes with whatever she feels like.

Granted, she is nonetheless a professional and will do whatever is asked of her.. but I can imagine her personality would creep into her leadership in some/many ways. I fear it a bit. I would say Sayu was actually the most mature out of 6th-gen-sans-Miki, so I've always felt she'd make a great leader. I hope they make it official ASAP.

^In various interviews and comments and such as of late though, Reina has shown huge growth, in my opinion. She talks a lot about how to do deal with 9th and 10th gen, and how she should say and suggest this and that for them. I still think Sayu should become leader, but that attitude of "whatever" that Reina has had for a long time is definitely gone. She cares for the group just as much as the other senpai (those that are left ;-; ) and I never doubted that she did, but these days she's definitely showing it a lot more.
