I really don't like the Momochi character — the Momoko who tries to boss around Miyabi and Airi, or who stands on tiptoes to match Yurina, or who plays the evil White in Berryz Kamen, they're all more interesting — but she seems to be H!P's big talent push now, so this is what we get whether we like her or not.

Sanma-san had a two-hour, all-female special. Guess what they think of Momochi…

As I've said earlier, "Momochi" is IMO at risk of poisoning the entire H!P brand. The troupe of annoying girls, that was supposed to be Idoling!!!.

Hopefully this is a calculated risk on their part that they can do with Momoko what they've somewhat successfully done with Sayumi -- introduce her into the public eye by any means necessary, then soften her up later on.

The celebrity bait and switch, it's worked a few times before. A couple of gravure idols like Yu~ka got introduced as boob queens, then either took them out or stopped emphasizing them after they proved themselves as talents. And Haruna Ai was introduced as a freak newhalf one-trick Ayaya imitator. Now s/he's a mainstream talent.

It's just, with Up-Front I always question whether they know what the hell they're doing, or are they just playing it by ear.
