It’s Thursday! Let’s get down to business… This week’s guests are C-ute’s Yajima Maimi and Okai Chisato!
Before we get into the summary I just want to point out that this week’s show was absolutely awesome and definitely worth a watch. Even if you don’t get what they are saying, the energy all 3 girls had this show matched Nyon sama’s energy in episode 1. It completely caught me off guard how much they could talk about the other girls. One funny thing to note: In the mobekimasu box corner, the girls would start out talking about whoever was picked but somehow the conversation always ended up on Maimi
Anyway lets begin!
Sayu is fired up from the beginning because all 3 girls are in ponytails today. I guess that unlocks super girl powers or something, I don’t know. They get to talking about contact infos because Sayu does not have Maimi or Chisa’s contact info. Refer to Sayu x Mano in episode 3 for the whole contact info thing. Chisa has Reina’s contact info, but Maimi does not. Maimi, however, has Gaki’s contact info because apparently all of the leaders swapped info.
Now on to the traditional fashion check
Sayu thinks Maimi’s outfit is very cute and very much in the fall style. Sayu asks what are the points to note in this outfit and Maimi responds with “I didn’t have anything in mind when I picked these out”. She just instinctively dresses well I guess. By the way, Maimi points out she’s not wearing a skirt, it’s a kilt. Sayu and Chisa think Maimi looks like a Barbie doll.
For Chisa, notice her really really really short shorts. She says its a fusion of fall (her top) and summer (her shorts). Actually what happened was she was at rehearsal today and was going to this Mobeki recording right after. However, on her way over, she forgot one of her bags at rehearsal which had her pants. She was actually wearing long pants that day, but since she forgot the bag she grabbed a pair of shorts she wore for a H!P event recently. Recycled clothes ftw. Chisa tells us that the pants actually belong to her mom. In her household she shares a lot of clothes with her mom. She tells us her mom is pretty young (39-40) so they can share a lot of stuff. As you know, Chisa has a sister but she can’t share clothes with her because her sister is too tall. Chisa says tops are okay for the most part, but shoes/socks not so much. Sayu and Maimi think its great to be able to share clothes with your mom.
On to our favorite corner… the Mobekimasu BOX!!!
For our first girl, Maimi draws… Berryz Koubou’s Tsugunaga Momoko!
At first before she opened the card Maimi said “Ah I have a bad feeling about this…” Then she opened it and said “Oh actually it’s alright, Tsugunaga Momoko”. Sayu adds “You were right about the bad feeling” lol. Sayu reads off Momo’s profile and says her nickname is Momochi. Maimi adds that if you call her “Momoko” instead of “Momochi” she actually gets mad.
Sayu does an angry Momo impression.
Momo and Maimi are actually the same age but Sayu and Chisa think you can’t tell by looks at all. Maimi looks way more mature and Momo looks childish. Chisa and Sayu think that Momo looks closer to Chisa’s age. Back in the dressing room, however, Chisa says that Momo acts like a big sister and is surprisingly very responsible. Maimi says we are all aware that Momo has that “I’m so cute” character so Maimi will try to give compliments to Momo and tell Momo she’s cute in a bunch of different ways. Sayu thinks Maimi is incredibly nice to do that. When Momo sits next to Maimi she will do things like lean on Maimi’s shoulder. Maimi says she likes to act baby-ish in that way. Also, if Maimi is sitting down on a bench or something, Momo will come along and lie on her lap. Sayu and Chisa think Maimi is super nice for letting Momo do that.
The conversation switches to how Maimi is so nice and Sayu wonders if Maimi ever gets mad. Chisa says that Maimi has never gotten a headache so she is never mad. Sayu is surprised and asks even when Maimi gets sick, and yep even when Maimi gets sick she does not get headaches. She must have good frontal sinus drainage. Chisa thinks Maimi gets them but she just doesn’t realize it because she is such an airhead. Back to the getting mad, Chisa says she thinks she has only seen Maimi get mad once or twice. And even in that case, Maimi spoke in a regular voice, so whoever got the scolding actually apologized since Maimi didn’t have the usual angry tone. When the C-ute girls have fights, Maimi breaks them up with her calm voice and that always shocks everyone. Maimi gets really shy here and wants everyone to start talking about Momo again instead. So cute!
They all agree that despite Momo’s “I’m so cute” character she is actually a very responsible, reliable girl. They think a lot of it comes from that fact that Momo is the oldest daughter in her family so she acts like an older sister within H!P.
Chisa says that since Sayu is cute, she doesn’t mind when Sayu does her “I’m so cute” thing, but for Momo… Sayu interrupts and says “Wait what are you saying about her then?” lol. Chisa says Momo’s behavior when she’s doing that character is just gross, not cute. Sayu thinks so too. However, Sayu notes that the fans seem to appreciate it so it’s all good. Maimi says that Momo is really just a little girl on the inside still. Like whenever they get in a car/taxi to go somewhere, Momo will be like “Okay now who wants to play a game?” during the car ride. Sayu responds with “Wait what? She’s 19 right??…” Chisa says that actually happened today where a group of them got into a taxi together – Momo was sitting up front, Chisa and some others in the middle, and Chinami in the back row (one of those big van taxis I guess). Momo and Chinami were shouting back and forth to each other trying to play their word game. Chisa was not that happy about it lol. When Momo decides to take a nap during a car ride, she’ll go to Maimi and say “I’m gonna nap, can you wake me up when we get there?”
Next draw, Chisa picks… Suzuki Airi!
Chisa says that Airi is someone Chisa is very envious of. Airi seems like the type of person who can do anything. Chisa says she is athletic even though her legs don’t look that way. Airi is also good at drawing and can handle school work pretty well too. Maimi says that Airi is the type of girl who is interested in a lot of things. If anything interests her she will take the time to look up more about it later. In the end, Maimi says that Airi comes off as having a lot of interests/hobbies. She also has a lot of her friends teach her difference dances so she is always absorbing info. Sayu thinks it must be great to have a girl like that in your group. Chisa says she is actually the same age as Airi. Sayu is shocked because Chisa seems a lot younger (since she can’t do as many things as Airi). Chisa says she gets that a lot, a lot of people think she’s the same age as Maimai. However, people tell Chisa that she looks older than Yuuka even though they are the same age.
Maimi says Airi has some peculiar habits though. She falls asleep in the middle of things quite often. For example, when in the car, if she’s drinking something, she will doze off right after taking a sip with the cap still open. Or, if she’s eating something like an onigiri, she will doze off with the onigiri still in her hand. Maimi repeats one of the stories she told on her solo dvd (or radio, I forget) where Maimi went to Airi/Maimai’s room during their Hawaii FC tour to borrow a hair dryer. Airi was on the bed and had dozed off in the middle of blow drying her hair. The dryer was still on going full blast at Airi’s head. Sayu says “Wow she’s actually a pretty big ditz after all”. Maimi says “Yeah, she is” to which Sayu responds “Ah that sounds weird coming from you though” lol. Maimi says that today, Airi came in with her socks inside-out. The girls think that gap in Airi’s character is probably something they really like. Sayu thinks C-ute must be a hard group to run since Maimi and Airi are airheads and Chisa is an idiot lol. Sayu goes “So we have airhead – airhead – idiot, what type of girl is Saki (Nakajima)?” Sayu thinks Nakky is the lazy type. Chisa responds with “And then I guess that makes Mai an idiot” So Sayu gives a full recap of the group “Airhead – airhead – idiot – lazy – idiot” Chisa says its rough because no one is really that responsible in C-ute so no one really pushes each other. Sayu wonders if they get scolded a lot. Chisa says their dance teacher scolds them a lot. During rehearsal before an event, often times the dance teacher will change something in the choreography last minute and the girls will practice the day before. However, when it comes to the actual event, all of the C-ute girls will forget the change and do the original thing instead. Sayu says that doesn’t happen in MM. Maimi says that Nakky and Airi are okay with those types of changes but herself and Chisa… not so much.
So currently BeriCute are in the middle of a collabo tour where they perform each others songs. As such, the girls will teach each other the dance moves. Chisa was trying to teach Berryz a dance one time and failed so miserably that even the dance teacher was like “Wow”. Chisa wonders how she manages to dance herself. Both Maimi and Chisa say that they can’t do it without the music.
Sayu says that when she watches Chisa dance at concerts though she looks really cool. Chisa gets really excited about the compliment. She said that is a first for her. Sayu says that Maimi looks like a good dancer so whenever she sees Maimi doing a cool dance Sayu thinks it’s expected. Both Chisa and Maimi aren’t good at getting compliments and Sayu keeps shooting them out in rapid fire succession so the C-ute girls start to get really shy.
Sayu is really fired up about how passionate the discussion is this episode
Next draw, Maimi picks… Sudou Maasa!
Sayu reads Maasa’s profile and apparently Maasa really likes manga and Peter Pan. Maimi and Chisa wonder if Peter Pan is considered a manga. Her profile says that Maasa is a my-paced type of girl but Maimi and Chisa thinks otherwise. Maimi says that Maasa is really good at watching people around her and taking note of things. Chisa says she has never seen Maasa mess up or forget a line.
A little while ago, Maimi was doing the GekiHaro play with Maasa (and many other members). In this play, Maasa was playing the part of an old lady. Maasa would have parts where she is supposed to say “Oh no~” and do a playful slap on Maimi’s arm. Except Maimi says that Maasa is an all-out type of girl, just like herself, so it hurt a bit whenever Maasa hit her on the arm. And during scenes where Maasa was trying to shake Maimi, Maimi got pretty dizzy and confused from being shaken so hard. Maasa doesn’t hold back in what she does.
Chisa says that Maasa is also a girl who is really easy to talk to. All 3 think that she would be a good girl to go to to vent or discuss a problem. She seems very warm and friendly.
For Sayu, Maasa is a very physical (touchy) person. For Sayu personally, Maasa will be like “Michishige-san!” and then slap her on the butt. Maimi says “Doesn’t Risako do that too?” Sayu says “No way? I wish she would” OOPS SLIPPED!
Sayu then hides behind her Maasa pic. Chisa and Maimi say that Risako is touchy just like that too, except she likes to get close to you like this:
Next draw, Chisa picks… Nakajima Saki!
During Chisa’s pick, she asks if other girls have talked about her on the show? Sayu says yes, when Smileage was on. Sayu repeats the story from episode 1 so refer to that if you missed it (the thing about the Mobekimasu PV photo shoot). Chisa is really happy to hear that.
Chisa says that Nakky looks like a really talkative/loud girl but she is actually a very considerate person. Chisa says that if you go to her with a problem, she will think things through with you all the way to the fine details. And then after your talk, she’ll email you and follow up to see how things are going. Also, if it is something that is hard for you to talk about, she’ll ask you about it first even if you don’t mention anything. She is really good about noticing things and will ask you out to dinner and then ask what is wrong over dinner if she thinks something is bothering you. Sayu says “So she really isn’t that lazy then?” Chisa says she is, when Nakky runs into trouble she doesn’t take it very well and it depresses her pretty easily. Maimi says she thinks Nakky is a hard worker overall and glad she is part of the group. Chisa then asks “What about me? What about me?”, Maimi says “Yes, you too” lol
Sayu’s image of Nakky is a very stylish/fashionable person. Maimi says that Nakky is always reading different fashion-related things, in particular, foreign magazines/etc. Sayu thinks Nakky’s bangs are always very stylish. Chisa thinks her hairstyles overall are always stylish. During C-ute’s Cho Uranaito concert tour, Nakky had a hairstyle that was like a chicken (lol?) and Chisa thought it was really cool. Maimi is like “What the heck is a chicken hairstyle like???” Chisa apparently meant like a mohawk type thing. Sayu gets what Chisa is talking about and says girls who can pull that off look really good – like Mikitty and Koharu.
And that ends the Mobekimasu BOX corner!
On to our last corner: “What I value is _____ ”
Maimi writes: “Being exact”. Chisa is very curious about this (although you would think she already knows). Maimi says she actually isn’t a punctual type of person, but more of a “rough estimates are good enough” type. However, there are peculiar parts of her personality that requires precision. Sayu wonders what blood type Maimi is, and Maimi tells us she is O type. Not the type that is known for being OCD. Maimi says she has to cover up the holes in her wall. Sayu says isn’t that normal? Chisa says it is.
Sayu says “Wait, what do you mean by holes though? What kind?” You can see both Maimi and Chisa hold up their hands like putting in a thumbtack because that is what they mean. Sayu thinks Maimi meant covering holes in the wall from punching the wall out of anger. Sayu what is going through that head of yours? Anyway, because of not wanting to ruin her wall, Maimi doesn’t like to put posters up. She won’t even use the poster wall tape. Also, she can’t go into her bed with her socks on. Maimi says its more of a weird trait than trying to be neat.
Lastly, when it comes to eating, when Maimi puts food in her mouth the rice and the side dish must be in equal portions. Sayu finds that really interesting. Maimi says what often happens is she’ll put some rice in her mouth, then some of the side dish and then notice that there is more side dish than rice so she will add more rice, but then notice there is now more rice than side dish. This goes on until Maimi’s mouth is packed with food. Her mom is always telling her to quit it. Chisa says “Wow and even with that you’re still so skinny” Everyone looks at Chisa and Chisa has this look like “Oh did I say that out loud?” lol. Maimi says it’s because she sweats so much anyway. Sayu wonders if Maimi works out, she looks like the type who likes to. Maimi says she actually doesn’t aside from the dance lessons for work. How did she get such crazy abs from just that???? Sayu goes on to say that Maimi has great skin. She says that when she talks to Gaki and Reina they all talk about how Maimi looks great and how awesome C-ute are.
Chisa writes “Diet”. She says that she has tried out a ton of different diets already. She has the body type where she gains weight easily and Sayu remarks its the opposite of Maimi. Chisa thought about why she gains weight so easily and thinks its because if she eats something of a different flavor, her stomach can reset so she can eat a lot again even if she was full just moments before. Chisa says when she goes out to yakiniku she orders a lot of stuff on the side in addition to the group meat everyone else eats. At first, Chisa didn’t really pay much attention to her weight but during the ABC C-ute concert tour she was in the dressing room eating a daifuku when all the other girls came in. They all started laughing and when Chisa asked what was so funny they said her face looked like a daifuku. When Chisa looked in the mirror she was like “Ah I kinda do…” Chisa had never really cared about using weight scales before but she did after that and was shocked to find out she weighed 53kg. Sayu freaks out and wonders if it is okay for Chisa to reveal that. Chisa says its okay because she has said it in MCs before so she continues on. Chisa said she didn’t do anything for a few months after because she didn’t know how to diet but then all of the sudden she was told she was getting a photobook. At that point Chisa was like “Oh I really need to do something now”. Chisa went into serious mode and lost 9kg in 1 month. Sayu is speechless. Chisa says she went on a strict calorie counting diet and kept herself at 1000 calories/day. She also started a green onion diet and a cabbage diet.
Sayu tries to wrap up the show here but the C-ute girls have a surprise! Since Sayu loves cute girls so much, they are going to give her a C-ute quiz! There will be 5 questions total, if she does not at least get 3/5, she will have to do a penalty game. Chisa and Maimi are sure that Sayu will know all the answers.
I have put the responses in spoiler tags so you guys can test your C-ute knowlege as well
Question 1: In the current C-ute line up, who has the member color yellow?
Question 2: In C-ute’s song Dance de Bakoon, what do they want to eat on the way home?
Question 3: What is the title of C-ute’s major debut single?
Question 4: In 2007, how many awards did C-ute win?
Question 5: In C-ute’s 3rd single, Tokkaiko Junjou, what does Maimi say as her line in the intro?Spoiler: show
Sayu wraps up the show and we move straight to the Sayustream solo corner.
Sayu says that she hasn’t talked that much with the C-ute girls before so she was worried before the show but she was glad at how talkative the show ended up. It was really fun for her. She had seen the C-ute dvd mags and concerts before so she was expecting Chisa to talk quite a bit, but she did not expect Maimi to be as talkative as she was. Sayu says that normally the shows will go like – she asks a question, the guests respond and then it goes back to Sayu. But since the two were so talkative today, Sayu didn’t really have to talk much. It was different than the normal show style and she found it really fun.
Sayu says that the discussion today was great because she hadn’t had that type of talk in a long time. In the past, there used to be a Junjun-Sayu-Reina trio who all wanted to talk so they would go back and forth, not wanting to be outtalked by the other girls. In the end, Reina would win but still it was fun. She looks at C-ute and thinks they have that right now, like they all know each other well enough to speak freely towards each other. With the new members joining MM, Sayu understands she won’t have that for a while so it was nice to experience what she did today.
Also, when Chisa first entered the studio today, she was in a jersey and her hair was all messy. Sayu wondered if Chisa would be okay in time for the show but everything worked out fine in the end.
After the show, Maimi and Chisa asked Sayu if she really liked C-ute because she doesn’t say how cute they are all the time like she does with the other H!P girls. Nakky and Maimai have also said “You don’t really care about C-ute that much huh?” Sayu wants to set the record straight and says she watches them a lot and thinks they are very cute.
That ends this week’s summary, see you next week!
