At the end of the article they also said they contacted her management (aka UF*) about it and they replied "Since she's an adult we are letting her handle her own private/personal life".

I read between the lines and think what they're really saying is "She's old. We don't care."

Yeah, it sounds like it.

Though really, it's unrealistic to expect her to stay single for pretty much half her life and most her youth. How old is she? Around 38? I'm not sure what Friday is trying to get at, is it a Japanese thing or only because she's an idol? Her being part of an idol unit might be unusual for her age, but she shouldn't be expected to act like a child and having no adult life.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a media appearance by her saying that UF* has even said to her "Yuuko, you're hitting that age now that shouldn't you be trying to settle down?"

So basically, if anything, even UF* realistically thinks that she should be dating.

if you think about it, it's not a Japanese thing. this could be the equivalent of "JENNIFER ANISTON SEEN WITH NEW BEAU" type stuff in western celebrity magazines. just something people are for some reason interested in, even if it's not really scandalous. unless for whatever reason they were marketing this as a scandal? i didn't get that feeling from the news segment i saw though, everyone was kind of just like "well that's nice~"
