Amped wrote:Today it is announced that ME:I is the first artist to officially accept the offer to participate in their first ever NHK Kouhaku. The reason why they were invited is because ME:I's popularity among the younger generation would boost viewership. Congratulations ME:I!

ME:I's first appearance in Kouhaku has been confirmed...Overwhelming popularity among Generation Z in its first year of debut, with more than 300 million views on SNS and streaming.

On November 15th, it is announced by the company (LAPONE) that the 11-member female group "ME:I" had been selected to participate in the 75th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen on New Year's Eve for the first time.

The promising girl group that has overwhelming support from Generation Z, grabbed a ticket to the big stage in their first year since their debut. The second single, "Hi-Five," was released in August, and reached the top spot on the "Billboard JAPAN Hot 100" list. The song has been viewed more than 300 million times on various social networking services and streaming services.

The third group born from "PRODUCE 101 JAPAN," Japan's largest audition program, which produced the 11-member male group JO1 and INI. The group was formed last December after the first female group audition. The name of the group means "idols of the future" representing a new generation in Japan. Currently, member TSUZUMI (17) has been diagnosed with an adjustment disorder and is on hiatus, but the group continues to perform with 10 members.

Their sharp dance moves and catchy songs, which they have learned in Korea, are the main reasons for their popularity. An official at the station expressed hope, saying, "With the rise of Korean female idols, ME:I has breathed new life into the Japanese girl group scene."

In addition, they ranked No. 1 in the "Trend Ranking by Teenage Girls" in the first half of this year by "Mynavi Teens Lab," which specializes in researching the latest trends among teenagers. It is believed that the station sent a love call to them because of their popularity with younger viewers, which is in line with the station's desire to attract viewers in the younger age bracket.

Girls group ME:I will perform in the 75th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen to be broadcast on New Year's Eve (from 7:20 p.m.). This will be their first appearance in Kouhaku.
ME:I said, "Since we just had our CD debut, it still feels like a dream, and frankly, I wonder if this is real. We only found out this morning and it still feels like a dream, but we are determined to do our best with sincerity."

The theme of "The 75th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen" is 'Anata e no Uta' (Songs for you). The hosts will be Hiroyuki Ariyoshi, Kanna Hashimoto, Sari Ito, and announcer Nahoko Suzuki.
For the selection of the Kohaku Uta Gassen,
1. this year's success

2. public opinion support
3. planning and direction of the program
The decision was made comprehensively based on these three points.

I didn't realise it was one of their main goals. I hope Tsuzumi will be well enough to return so that she doesn't miss out.

Today it is announced that ME:I will be in charge of singing the ending song for the Japanese theatrical release of Disney's "Moana and the Legendary Sea 2", on December 6th. The song is called "Beyond ~Koete Yukou~" [Japanese ver. ending song] (ビヨンド ~越えてゆこう~ [日本版エンドソング] ), A singing video has been released for the song. It will be released digitally on November 25th.

ME:I has been appointed as the Japanese end song artist for Disney Animation Studios' latest film, "Moana 2," which will be released nationwide on Friday, December 6, 2024.

"Moana 2" is the sequel to "Moana," which was nominated for numerous film awards, including the 89th Academy Awards and the 74th Golden Globe Awards.

While many different artists from around the world have been chosen to perform the ending song, ME:I was the only group in the world to perform "Beyond ~Koete Yukou~ (the Japanese version of the ending song)," with each member putting their heart into the song.

Today, a special performance video and interview footage of "Beyond ~Koete Yukou~ (the Japanese version of the ending song)" were also released.

"Beyond" is a song about the protagonist Moana's hesitation to set sail for the sake of her loved ones, knowing that she may never see them again, but her determination to believe in herself and overcome her doubts and conflicts. Sung by members of the same generation as Moana, the song conveys the message contained in the lyrics "I am Moana," that "if anyone believes in themselves and keeps moving forward, they can surely overcome any conflict or doubt -- everyone of us is Moana."

The members of the group expressed their joy at participating in the Disney Animation film and made enthusiastic comments about the film, the characters, and the song "BEYOND ~Koete Yuko~ (Japanese version end song)" that they will sing.

When asked how she felt when she learned that she had been chosen as the end song artist for the Japanese version of the film, MOMONA replied, "I was so happy to be entrusted with such a big role, and we were all happy and beyond speechless," reflecting on the fact that all the members were able to make their dreams come true with their favorite Disney animation.

Asked about her favorite part of the previous film "Moana and the Legend of the Sea," KOKONA said that she is energized by Moana every time she watches the film, saying, "The energetic and cheerful Moana is my favorite part."

Regarding the upcoming release of this film, MIU, who has always loved Disney animation films, said, "The songs in the previous film were very good, so I have very high expectations for the songs in this film. In the previous film, Moana sang about her dream of 'jumping out into the ocean and seeing what lies beyond,' but in this film, she is the one who will lead the world in a thousand years, and I am looking forward to seeing how she sings with her emotions."

Three years have passed since the last film, and Moana is now 19 years old, the same age as ME:I, but COCORO says, "I was very impressed by the way she took on challenges without fear of taking risks, and at the same time, I think she is a character that makes us think about what it means to live life in our own way. I admire Moana's boldness in taking on challenges, and I want to be like her."

In the special singing video released this time, "ME:I" sings "BEYOND ~Koete Yuko~ (Japanese version end song)" sometimes sadly and sometimes powerfully, expressing Moana's feelings of "Beyond" while overlapping with Moana in the film. The song is sung with impressive singing ability, and even the impressive chorus lyrics express Moana's feelings.

SHIZUKU excitedly describes her impression when she first heard the song: "I had goosebumps from the moment the music started playing at the beginning, and the moment I heard the lyrics describing Moana's emotions and the magnificent and dynamic music, I felt 'Oh, my favorite Moana is back!'"

"I was very nervous before recording the song, but I love Moana and have seen the previous movie many times, so I was able to imagine Moana's emotions and scenes, and I was able to sing the song comfortably while getting emotionally involved,"RAN said, looking back on the recording, She added, "In this song, the lyrics ‘let's go beyond’ appears many times, and I can feel Moana's strong will to overcome her doubts and weak points and move on. That's my favorite part of the song," she said of the impressive chorus.

"Beyond ~Koete Yukou~ (Japanese version of the end song)" will be available for digital download on Monday, November 25th, ahead of the film's release.

"Moana 2"

Three years have passed since the epic adventure of the previous film. Moana, the protagonist who has a special bond with the sea, has become the "one in a millennium guide" who connects all the seas, and is searching for the people on a distant island.

One day, Moana learns the legend of the Storm God, who hates humans and tore the world apart. In order to break the curse, she sets out on a voyage to unite the world once more with the shape-shifting half-god hero Maui and new island companions. However, it is an adventure so dangerous that she may not return alive.

"Let's overcome any difficulties that may lie ahead." What awaits at the end of this endless adventure with our friends...?
