ME:I Member #7: Iida Shizuku, unexpected growth by utilizing her strengths
Among the debutant members selected by the national producers (viewers), some have consistently marked high rankings, while others have made surprising breakthroughs. Iida Shizuka is completely in the latter pattern.
Her initial ranking was 31st. By the end of the program, she was ranked in the top 10 for the first time, which was within her debut range, and she ended up finishing the audition in 7th place.
Since this is the result of a vote by the national producers, it is not only because of her skills and growth, but also because of her charm, which is loved by many people. We would like to examine what it is about her that people love about her, and what kind of appeal she will bring as a member of the group in the future.
Iida's name is synonymous above all with singing. She made headlines when she performed SPEED's "Body & Soul" in the group battle stage. Her singing voice, which is so elongated and stable that it is hard to imagine from her slender body, has surprised many national producers, trainers, and trainees. The buzz, however, was by no means exclusively positive. Vocal trainer Lee Hong-gi commented somewhat harshly, "I guess it was classical music," as he could not get rid of his peculiarities due to her background as a former Takarazuka Music School candidate and current music student. Comments such as, "It was an opera," and "It's a classical version," were scattered on social networking sites.
The group battle was a challenge for Iida, who was not able to take lessons as much as she would have liked due to her poor physical condition. With her regrets from that time in mind, Iida performed Amuro Namie's "Hero" in the following position battle. Iida's visual appearance, with her blond bob and completely changed hairstyle, and her "de-classic" singing style became the talk of the town. While she sang the high note part with a steady and elongated voice, she also charmed the national producers with her voice tone that matched the song.
With her background, the focus tends to be on Iida's singing voice, but in fact, the author feels that her dance skills have also grown considerably. For example, when looking at the fan camera for the program's theme song "LEAP HIGH!", Iida shows off her own good qualities with a cute expression and dance moves.
In contrast, "CHOPPY CHOPPY," performed in the finals, was bursting with Iida's signature smile in numerous patterns. To add to this, Iida's dancing, which had been generally soft, was now more fluid, with a greater awareness of her fingertips and toes. I got the impression that the resolution of the music had been improved while maintaining her good qualities.
I feel that the reason for her popularity lies in the unknown growth potential that cannot be predicted from her calm and easygoing personality. She is a delight to root for because she effortlessly surpasses the expectations of the viewers, who wonder what she will show next.
I imagine that after her debut, she will be able to use her characteristic elongated singing voice to sing ballads, and her positive expression to change from one song to another in cute songs, as she pleases. In my personal opinion, I would like to see her try cooler songs and more mature songs that she did not show during the show. https://realsound.jp/2024/02/post-1560685.htmlhttps://realsound.jp/2024/02/post-1560685.html_2

ME:I Member #8: Shimizu Keiko, Positive aura and drawer of expressions make viewers smile.
Many of the participants had no previous experience in this program. Needless to say, they had a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences before participating in the audition. The eleven members have their own strengths and unique personalities.
In this issue, we pick up Shimizu Keiko, who came in 8th place in the final ranking to become a member of the group. Based on her appearance during the audition, we would like to examine what kind of appeal she will bring as a member of the group in the future.
Among the 11 members, Shimizu gives the impression of radiating a positive aura. Looking back on her performance, it seems that she had a strong impact on the national producers (viewers) from the time she appeared on the program. In the placement test, she performed "Otona Blue" by Atarashii Gakkou no Leaders as Vitamin Bomb, leaving an impact that rivaled that of the original. It made everyone present smile, and dance trainer Rino Nakasone said, "It's great. I'm sorry, I was only looking at you," and was selected as a member of Class A.
In the group battle, she performed "TOKYO GIRL" by Perfume. Among the talented group members, she was impressive in her own part, smiling and giving energy to the audience. In particular, vocal trainer Aoyama commented with a smile, "I'm only here for Keiko, right?" as she was pulled out by the camera before the chorus of "Happy feeling good miwatashite." Shimizu was unafraid to demonstrate his positive "Vitamin" like powers.
As these examples show, the author feels that the appeal of Shimizu lies in its positive aura that attracts the viewer. In fact, the program's broadcast showed scenes from practice as well as performances, but the team to which Shimizu belongs always has a good atmosphere. There were many occasions when the members seemed to be enjoying each other's company, without becoming tense, while engaging in friendly competition. Of course, it is impossible to assert that Shimizu alone is responsible for this. However, watching her performance, which made not only the national producers but also the trainees and trainers smile, one can imagine that she must have an aura of making everyone around her happy.
However, this is not the only attraction of Shimizu. The performance that made me think that positive aura is not the only thing that made people smile was during Chanmina's "Bijin" in the rap and vocal category at the position battle. Here, Shimizu asked, "Is this a 'very funny' frame? "Is that why I'm falling? frame" Shimizu confesses in the lyrics she wrote for this song that she is seen as a mood-maker. However, she did not let such opinions deter her, declaring, "I will use that time to hone my skills, and if I keep trying, I will shine." With the strength of will to grasp her dreams, she firmly captured the hearts of the national producers. True to her words, Shimizu continued to hone her skills, showing a new look for each song concept and advancing to the finals. During the performance, she wrote a message on her arm to express his gratitude to the national producers and became a member of ME:I.
As a member of ME:I, Shimizu is expected to show mainly rap in the future. On the other hand, there is still much more to Shimizu that fans do not know, as evidenced by the smiling face she showed in "TOKYO GIRL" and the bewitching and provocative expression on her face as she performed "Koakuma (Baddie)" in the concept battle. I look forward to seeing her expand her skills with each new song, and to seeing her continue to draw out new talents from her repertoire.
