FUKUMURA, a.k.a. "Fukuchan," who has been supporting Morning Musume as the longest-serving leader since she became the youngest leader in the group's history, will finally graduate from the group at the concert to be held at Yokohama Arena on November 29.
In the December issue, we interviewed her to express our gratitude for her 12 years of support. She was joined by her classmate Ikuta, junior members Kitagawa and Sakurai. They talk a lot about their memories up to now and their thoughts on graduation.
The following is an excerpt from the interview
Ikuta: Even though the four of us were in the generation, we naturally talked a lot together, but we had a huge fight once.
Fukumura: That was about eight years ago.
Ikuta: That was a very important event for me. I am really glad that I could have a serious fight with Mizuki about the group.
Fukumura: The episode with Eripon was when we were walking together and she suddenly confided two secrets to me, saying, "Oh, there's something I haven't told you," (laughs). (Laughs) And she said, "I'm sorry I kept it from you," and I was happy that she was so familiar with me.
Kitagawa: I joined the group before corona, and I was able to tour with Fukumura-san for about six months in a small group concert, which left a strong impression on me. So every time I go to a local area, my memories of touring with Fukumura come back to me. Because we were a small group, we were happy to spend more intense time together.
Fukumura: I remember listening to Kitagawa's solo song in the sleeve at the ballad concert, and I was so moved. Every time I see Kitagawa's sparkling figure, I feel like I'm entrusting the future of Morning. is in good hands.
Kitagawa: Wow, I am so happy!
Sakurai: For me, it was Fukumura-san who announced my acceptance at the audition. Whenever I was nervous, Fukumura-san was always there for me, so I always felt at ease.
Fukumura: When I asked Rairii, "Which do you want to stand out more, singing or dancing? she said "MC" which was interesting and great (laugh). That is why I have high expectations for Rairii and entrust her with my feelings, such as asking her to take the lead in organizing the group.
Sakurai: I will do my best as MC to live up to your expectations! (Laughs)
