@Bonsie, Yep, pretty much exactly that situation XD
Except I decided to get up there in the middle of the rainstorm and throw a tarp over the problem area, because I didn't want my computer and stereo to short out. It was just sort of dribbling down the wall lazily - I didn't get that cinematic dripping into a pot thing this time. I threw some lumber onto the tarp thinking that that ought to hold it in place, however, wind was up to 50km/h. In the morning, still drizzling outside, I noticed a new dribble appear and sure enough the wind had blown the tarp out of place! So it got lashed down next time.

Waiting for a dry day to arrive, I managed to squirt some silicone under the screws and re-tighten them. Some screws were replaced but people are of varying opinion on whether or not you need to replace the screws if you're doing silicone. Let me tell you, the fumes from that stuff will do a number on you after a while - my typing speed increased dramatically :o

Did your typing speed up, or did the rest of the universe slow down? :yinyang:

Today I went to Pacific East Mall, the nearby Asian shopping center, for the first time in at least several months. I needed to pick up my usual jasmine tea at 99 Ranch Market, since my supply had run out. The price has gone up a bit, but $5.99 for 100 tea bags is still a bargain. While I was there, I also managed to stock up on a couple of things that I love but rarely find in stores these days: Black Pepper Crab flavor Cup Noodles and Haribo ginger-lemon gummies! :yahoo:

I was happy to see that Kingstone Books still exists. They still have enough Chinese books to qualify as a bookstore, but the place sure has changed since the days when I went there fairly often to buy Asian DVDs and CDs, 10–20 years ago. The only audio/video I saw there today was a few shelves of K-pop CDs in typically oversized collectible packaging. Most of the place is now devoted to stationery, toys, and gifts, predominantly character goods (Disney, Ghibli, Sanrio, etc.). I got to chat with the owner, whom I hadn't seen in a while, and bought a few packs of cute hiragana stickers featuring Kuromi.

I'm on jury duty - it's supposed to be a short trial, but it's reminded me of just how far I've drifted from anything resembling a daytime schedule over the past few years of working from home!

I’m visiting friends in Chicago and the other day I went to see Bob Dylan. It’s crazy how he’s still touring so much.

^ It's amazing how long some of these musicians have been at it, even the younger ones from the punk and alternative scenes of the '80s and '90s. In two weeks I'm going to see the Breeders, who are touring for the 30th anniversary of their Last Splash album. It seems like hardly any time has passed since they toured for its 20th anniversary! I'll be going to see L.A. punk legends X in December, and they're celebrating their 46th anniversary this month.

The band that will be opening for the Breeders is Belly, a band that I first saw live thirty years ago ($11 including fees: those were the days!). The last time I saw them, in 2018, bassist Gail Greenwood was talking about how all of them are now getting invitations to join AARP in the mail. "We just throw them out," Gail says, "Except for this one." She points over to singer/guitarist Tanya Donelly, who replies, "I love my discounts!"
