Marine: This really is about Yuumi. She will be 20 years old soon (the old seijin age, now it's been changed to 18 legally). She keeps saying she wants to be more adult-like (mature), and she seems to be trying many different new things to that end.
Yuumi: Yes.
Marine: I feel the things she is trying are somewhat in a different direction. Like, really? You are trying THAT to be more mature? Recently, for example, she seems to think if you become able to drink coffee you have become an adult.
Yuumi: No!
Marine: No?
Yuumi: I saw you drink coffee and I thought you looked so mature, so I wanted to be able to drink coffee too!
Marine: Is that so? So, that's what is was! Yuumi keeps saying "I want to be more mature" while buying coffee. But she really can't drink it. Even though she can't drink coffee, she keeps trying it.
Yuumi: Sometimes I keep trying even though I get a stomach ache from drinking coffee.
Marine: Yes. She reports to me, like really boastfully, "I purchased coffee the other day!". She really says it pridefully, but since I drink coffee normally, I am always like "And?". She still keeps making these reports to me. Yuumi almost always asks the shop staff for their recommendation when ordering a drink, like "Do you have a drink you can recommend?". When the staff makes a recommendation, she just says "Okay I will order that." Even though she can't drink coffee, if you ask for a recommendation at a coffee shop from the staff, the recommended will have coffee in it. This one time she asked the cafe staff for recommendation, and I thought to myself, "Oh she is ordering the recommended drink, she must have become able to drink coffee!". The drink that came was an Espresso Frappuccino. Yuumi was really excited like "That looks tasty!", but as soon as she took a sip her expression turned sour like "Eh.". In the end, she was unable to drink it and exchanged it with my caramel Frappuccino, and I drank her espresso Frappuccino.
Yuumi: (Marine's) so kind!
Marine: (The story's) so interesting!
Yuumi: The drink was really different from what I was expecting. It did look really tasty! It had cream on top too, so I thought it would be sweet.
Marine: Did you know what Espresso is to begin with?
Yuumi: No I didn't.
Marine: You didn't, right?
Yuumi: But I have recently become able to drink coffee. I can drink Ice Tea...
Marine: That's Tea!
Yuumi: No no, I meant Ice Coffee.
Marine: You can drink Ice Coffee?
Yuumi: Up until recently I drank Ice Coffee after putting in 3 packs of gum syrup.
Marine: At that point you really don't need to drink it!
Yuumi: But now I can drink It with only 2 packs of gum syrup.
Marine: It really isn't much of a difference. But the Espresso Frappuccino was really somewhat sweet, and you still couldn't drink it. So I think you really can't drink coffee,
Yuumi: I can if I try to endure it.
Marine: You don't have to endure it!
Yuumi: I will try Espresso Frappuccino once again.
Marine: No, please stop! At least do it when I am not around. Or we will have to swap again.
Yuumi: Leave it to me.
Marine: But I really remember your face after taking a sip of the Espresso Frappuccino. It was so funny! It was like "Oh no! Not again!".
Yuumi: I thought I could persevere and drink it.
Marine: Yeah at first you were really trying hard to play it off coolly. After you took a sip I asked you "Are you OK? Is it bitter?", and you were like "It's OK, I can drink it". I thought you were trying really hard. Then when I let you take a sip from my drink, you instantly perked up into a smile! I thought to myself "She can't drink it after all", and we ended up exchanging.
