I'm dealing with stuff IRL, so I don't have time to do the stuff I normally do here. I encourage someone else to pick up the slack, at least for a while. For example, the latest M-line Music, the latest Study Abroad, and a couple of vocal recording remixes are available…

And don't wait for Amped to do it. He will, eventually, because he's a superfan and a completionist, but he shouldn't have to. Someone else should show some initiative.

Late last night, I started the install for the latest Windows 10 update (my desktop system doesn't quite meet the qualifications for Windows 11, and I don't want to push it). After about 10 hours, the update failed, and the blue screen message said that it would restart after sending the technical info to Microsoft. After an hour or so, it still showed the blue screen, so I shut the power off and restarted it. It then took another hour or two to repair Windows and restart, and I'm currently catching up with all of the work and personal stuff that got delayed as a result.

Was this some large cumulative update that you put off for a while? I applaud your 10hrs patience. Consider it a veiled reminder from MS to backup your cat gifs before they really dump a hefty steamer on your keyboard next time.

If you're gonna go grimdark, you've gotta try Glen Cook's Black Company series. Arguably the first grimdark, but with an epic love story woven into it.

If you're looking for light and easy fantasy I just finished breezing through Will Wight's "Cradle" series, which is basically a manga in English novel form. It's the story of manga protagonist levelling up his magic skills from book to book, starting from having almost no supernatural abilities to truly earth-shattering levels of power.

If you want something really twisted and dark, Sayaka Murata's "Earthlings" fits the bill.

It was just supposed to be the regular monthly cumulative update, but apparently, it's been giving more than a few people trouble.

I'm going to second the Black Company series (first-rate writing, and some of the best characters are massively dangerous, amoral, out-and-out insane, or all three).

ITZY came to visit the other day. I swear, the pitch of fangirl screaming needs to be OSHA regulated. Arrived three hours early to find myself 10 deep behind a sea of cell phones. Even though I had the calculated smugness to bring a collapsible mini stool to stand on (a pro-gamer move I have you know), dedicated true believers I had come to discover had bought step ladders.
