UTB magazine vol. 325 May 2023 issue is a Hello! Project 25th Anniversary filled issue, featuring 3 of Upfront's solo artists Suzuki Airi, Miyamoto Karin, and Sato Masaki on the cover.

"Hello!" was founded in January 1998. 25 years has passed since then, and "Hello!" has been transformed into "Hello! Project," which has produced Morning Musume, Berryz Kobo, ℃-ute, ANGERME, Juice=Juice, and many other idol units, as well as solo artists such as Mano Erina.

This issue is a special edition celebrating Hello! Project's 25th anniversary.

The cover of the magazine is the miraculous return of Suzuki Airi, who graced the cover of "UTB+ magazine Vol. 10," released 10 years ago to commemorate Hello! Project's 15th anniversary, and who has been developing a wide range of activities as a solo artist since ℃-ute's dissolution.

She will be joined by Sato Masaki, who is preparing to make her solo debut, and Miyamoto Karin, who was a talented member of Juice=Juice and has been actively engaged in concerts and releasing solo albums since her graduation.

The first and last ultra-rare, this is a lineup of faces befitting a milestone in the history of Hello Pro.

Next, Morning Musume. '23's Makino Maria, who was on the cover the previous UTB magazine issue that was also very popular, appears for the second issue in a row. Newly photographed separately from the previous issue, the new issue offers a multifaceted look at her charms. This issue also features Makino Maria on the back cover.

In addition, Kitagawa Rio also appears in a solo gravure shoot. For this, we took advantage of the snowy location at her request. Don't miss this one either.

The gravure at the end of the issue is by Sato MAsaki for the second issue in a row. The theme continues to be "Sound and Me." She also talks about her solo debut single "Ding Dong / Romantic Nante Gara Janai" which is about to be released, so please look forward to it.

The appendix is a giant double-sided poster. The front is decorated by Suzuki Airi, Sato Masaki, and Miyamoto Karin, and the back by Sato Masaki.

A "NEO" Ichioka Reina is about to start

It is announced that BEYOOOOONDS Yamazaki Yuhane recorded her first audio drama for NHK's FM Theater.

Yamazaki Yuhane of the idol group BEYOOOOONDS and actress Takiuchi Kumi will appear in the NHK Sapporo Broadcasting Station-produced audio drama for FM Theater called "Kujira no Uta wo Kika sete Ageru" (I'll Let You Hear the Whale Sing). In her first audio drama, Yamazaki plays the role of Haruka Yuki, the protagonist of the drama, who has been hoping to "someday talk to whales" since she was a child and enrolls in Hakodate Marine University, which is nationally known for its whale research.

Yamazaki : "My character Yuki is a woman who just loves whales. When I read the script, I thought it was wonderful that she could be so passionate about whales. I am similar in that I am passionate about things I like, such as singing. When I talk about my favorite things, I tend to talk too fast. I was conscious of that while playing the role."

The drama is modeled on an actual laboratory in Hokkaido. Haruka learns the ins and outs of research from her senior postdoctoral fellow Sachi Meguro (Takiuchi) and finds it fascinating, but reality does not work out and due to family reasons, her mother tells her to follow a steady path and not go to graduate school. The story depicts the unknown reality of a minor researcher, which is mentally, physically, and financially demanding, and how she still manages to carve out her own dream.

Yamazaki says, "This is my first time to act in an audio drama, and it was difficult. I had to express myself only with my voice, so if my acting was too exaggerated, the audience would feel uncomfortable, and if it was too natural, it would seem flat through the microphone," she said, revealing her difficulties.

Another difficulty was that the sound of turning the pages of the script came out as noise," she said.
I was taught by my co-star Takiuchi a special way to turn the book so that the noise would not appear during the recording. Thanks to her, we were able to enjoy the recording despite our struggles. There are a lot of technical terms used in whale research, but I tried to convey my thoughts and feelings in my lines, paying attention to each word so that everyone could understand what I was saying.

On the other hand, Takiuchi, who plays Meguro, said, "I am very happy that we were able to record this drama in Hokkaido, as it is a work unique to Hokkaido. The content of the drama is a specialized field, so we have a whale research specialist working on this drama as well. Without the behind-the-scenes support, I don't think this production would have been possible, so I would like to promote and communicate the existence of these people, including post-doctoral researchers," she said.

The drama will be broadcast nationwide on NHK-FM from 10pm for 50 minutes on March 4th.
