The forecast for our area has improved significantly. We're right on the eastern edge of the worst of it.

Looking at the long-range forecast ten days ago, we were supposed to get five inches of snow just today (Thursday). That would've caused serious problems for something we needed to do today IRL.

Thankfully, between then and now, the forecast shifted. The bulk of the precipitation moved from today to tonight/tomorrow, and the precipitation we will have today will fall as rain instead of snow.

Tomorrow might still be a problem, as the storm actually hits us later tonight. But we don't need to go anywhere or do anything after today, so we should be okay unless the wind knocks out the power.

The silver lining is that we will have a white Christmas, after a very mild December so far.

We're dropping to 11°F tonight, and we'll barely break 20°F for tomorrow's high. Expecting wind chills to be below 0°F at times. No snow for us, though we might get a frozen mix tonight.

It's morning, we're still here, we still have power.

The snow has been surprisingly light. As forecast, most of the precipitation here fell as rain yesterday, before the temperature dropped overnight.

Right now, it's all about the wind and cold. It's brutal out there. The windchill is -16 ℉ (-27 ℃). No one is going anywhere unless they absolutely need to.

More often than it should. Old, above-ground power lines that are susceptible to rain and tree branches. And considering I live in a university town literally named after trees…

The wind continued to increase and the temperature continued to decrease throughout the morning, and it looks like we're at the worst point right now. The current windchill is -23 ℉ (-31 ℃).

Still very light snow, mostly drifting in corners and leaving the streets and sidewalks bare. Which means the snow removal crews don't really need to come out yet. Good for them.

Things are supposed to start turning around later this afternoon and then gradually improve over the weekend. It will be almost spring-like by New Year's.

I had to go get a space heater because my heater isn't so great, plus I'm having a party at my place tonight and I don't want people freezing here.


Anyway, I haven't been following H!P in forever, but my latest favorite thing to do while high on weed gummy is watching MM videos from around 2013-2015 where they did the formation dances and the songs were crazy af. I realized I had no memory of their songs from around 2015 even though I knew for a fact I'd heard those songs many times.
