I always liked having the long summer vacation, or at least the option. I taught summer session twice while I was in grad school, but if I'd had to do that every year, my epic 10-week vacation in Germany and England would never have been possible.

I've been home for a few hours! I had a good time in Atlanta.

Before today, I hadn't been to Red Lobster in several years. I used to go about once a month, but I fell out of the habit when things changed with my day job and I could no longer take long lunches.

I went today because I'm away from home, by myself, taking care of family business. I figured the opportunity wouldn't come around again for several more years.

Well, given my experience today, I don't think I'll ever be back again. The food and service were fine, but good lord, the portions have shrunk and the prices have skyrocketed.

I could've gotten a bigger and better fish-and-shrimp meal for half the price at the Cracker Barrel down the street.

Every so often when I remember that this place still exists I realise I've known a few of you for, like, 17 years. It's pretty weird knowing that I've been involved in the H!P fandom long enough that several of the current members weren't even born when I initially discovered H!P/MM. I mean, I started following them when I was 11 and was younger than most of the members at the time. As of Momoko graduating I've been older than all of them, too. Time is wild.

Also I really shouldn't have been on the internet at that age but good god at least social media didn't exist back then. That's the one positive. I don't know how I didn't become some type of nonce or incel considering the main places I hung out were Japanese idol and anime sites/forums... and I was a dumb teenager. I'm still dumb, but at least I know not to trust people on the internet nowadays, I guess. Looking back on some of the things I did makes me want to go back in time and punch myself for not realising how much of a shithead I was being (or, at bare minimum, I cringe reading old posts). I... I guess that's a sign of growth, though?

Found out I'm gonna have to move to another state in a few months, out of the house I've lived in literally since I was born. I'm not happy about it.

Some middle of nowhere place in Minnesota, close to my sister and her husband (and his parents). There's not much of anything there and my sister constantly complains about having nothing to do - which is definitely the way to get me excited aobut losing access to two decently sized libraries and my favorite drink/quick dinner spot.
