I've spent the last few days helping my parents plan a way too long driving trip to see my sister. I never want to talk or think about toll roads again in my life.

Headed to the Amtrak station in a few hours! Pretty sure I have everything packed. I was able to get most of it in 1 suitcase, so I'll call it a win, lol.

If it's a vacation, I hope it's fun! I had occasion to ride Amtrak a couple of months back, and while it was nothing spectacular, it was a fair sight better than the trip back on a grimy local state railroad, where people were openly vaping and playing (non-H!P ) music on their radios. It was like half the price of Amtrak, so I guess you get what you pay for

I took the Rail Runner train from Santa Fe to Albuquerque when I was in New Mexico at the beginning of this month. It was very nice, and since their fares are 75% off until the end of the year, it only cost $2.25!

It's sort of a vacation! People vaping on a train sounds miserable, yikes.

I forgot my CPAP mask so I did not get everything packed. A lot of good it does me without the mask, ugh.

The train ride itself was actually not terrible! Was kinda surprised how much room there was. The line itself actually goes from New Orleans to NYC. We left 12 minutes late but arrived 20 minutes early. It comes back through on Friday morning, so I'll be able to see stuff outside then, lol.

My company does work for Amtrak (we work on the temp controls) so the more people that ride it, it's a win win for me! xD

Everyone ride more Amtrak trains! Hehe.

All the kids are starting to go back to school here. Summer is unofficially over.

Come to think of it, I did start reading Lovecraft somewhere around third of fourth grade.

To be honest, I don't know whether or not I would have preferred year-round school (it just wasn't a thing back then, at least where I lived), but the teachers I know now seem to have pretty strong preferences (both pro and con) - I think that if I were teaching, I'd probably lean toward year-round.
