I saw her last night in Philly! I took a bus up there in the morning, and it was around 50 degrees and raining all day so I didn’t get to explore the city as much. I went to Reading Terminal Market, and that was amazing. The subway was so gross though. I took it four times throughout the day and there was always a lot of trash in the train.

I went to wait for Rina outside the venue about 1.5 hours before doors opened so I was out in the rain that entire time, but it was worth it because I was like the third row from the stage. Rina called someone up on stage because it was the person’s birthday and their partner proposed, it made me cry because it was so sweet! I can’t wait for that new song to be released though and also the entire new album coming out sometime this year.

I took a bus back from Philly at 12:40am. It was still raining lol. I didn’t get home until 3:30am, and I thought about how I should have just bought an overpriced resale ticket for the DC show the night before (but I wouldn’t have come home from work early enough to go line up early for the show!).

In some ways, I think, taking a somewhat long and complicated journey to a gig makes it a more memorable experience - more like an epic quest than just a quick trip downtown. And long bus trips always felt like epic - and sometimes rather strange - quests through dark and mysterious places (like the back roads south of San Jose at 4:30 in the morning). XD

Today driving in my Bug, I had another close encounter. It is the same street but further down from the corner from three days ago. Same bunch of geese though with some on one side of road and some on the other side. Could be different family because this group has a third helper goose and more little ones. :hehe:

Possibly only the third or fourth time in history that an eagle-eyed cow in a beetle has taken a gander at a gaggle of geese out on a lark.

Going up to Philly again next weekend, mostly because I want to go up to Lancaster, PA for an Amish Country tour. There's still a few things I want to check out in Philly too. I'm trying to travel around the region more before I move down to Atlanta.

I'd like to see the area around Lancaster at some point. My family settled in that area in the 1740s - they were from Württemberg, and thus Pennsylvania Dutch ("Dutch" as in "Deitsch" - "German", of course), at least before they anglicized their name and headed West. I hope there's still some good Pennsylvania Dutch food in the area!

Some of my ancestors lived in that area, too. That line of the family came from Switzerland (Kanton Zürich) via Elsenz im Kraichgau (present-day Baden-Württemberg). My great×7-grandfather arrived in Philadelphia on a ship called the Dragon in 1732 and died in Elizabeth Township, Lancaster County, in 1758. The family didn't stay there, though; his son and grandson moved to North Carolina sometime before 1781.

One of the translations of Le Petit Prince in my collection is Der glee Prins in Pennsylfaanisch-Deitsch.
