Going to D.C for Cherry Blossom season is on my bucket list of things to do. I have a cherry tree out in front of my house, but seeing a mass of them at once blooming is entirely different.

I aimed for sakura mankai when I took my first trip to Japan back in 2006. Kinda tricky, since I booked it eight months in advance, but luckily I hit my target. By dumb luck, I managed to hit plum blossom season on my last trip (2015).

Here's one of my favorite photos from the 2006 trip: fallen cherry blossom petals in a koi pond at Atago-jinja in Tokyo.
