Just days after his appearance on the drama Mayonaka ni Hello, Nakajima Takui announces a statement today (Valentine's Day) saying he is leaving Upfront. He would like to be independent and start his own company.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support.
We are announcing that the exclusive management contract between our company and Nakajima Takui will be ending on March 31st, 2022.
Since the end of last year, we have been in discussions with him regarding his future activities, and as a result, we have come to the conclusion to end the exclusive management contract with our company amicably.

Thank you for your support over the years.
Nakajima Takui will continue to take on the challenge of various musical activities.

To all media outlets and fans of Nakajima Takui,

I, Nakajima Takui will amicably resign from my agency, J.P. Room Co. and Upfront Group on March 31st, 2022.

I've been a member of a label since 2004, and a member of a management company since 2010, and I've learned so much in the past 18 years. I would like to express my gratitude to the people at my agency who have supported me through all the tough times in my career as a rock singer, and who have generously given me many opportunities.

I myself turned 43 last October, and this year will be my 23rd year since my debut.
I may not have half of my life left, and I don't know how many more years I will be able to sing, but when I thought about the rest of my musical life, I decided that I wanted to go it on my own. Therefore, I will start the world's smallest company and become independent.

I am prepared for the fact that the road to the future will not be an easy one. But I have many dreams that I have yet to fulfill. No matter what happens, I will continue to sing until the end of my life.

From now on, I would like to further enrich my own activities and those as a writer. I would like to ask for the continued support and encouragement of all the people in the media and my fans who have always supported me.

I'm glad he isn't retiring, but I'll be sad not having those clips of him on UPCOMING anymore. I do hope they keep going to him for new songs though, he always delivers.

I don't know if this is the right thread, given he left UF? But apparently in a recent Instagram live Eric Fukusaki said he's still working with Hello! Project and will release new material sometime this year, and that he's working as a producer.

In case anyone needs a reminder, H!P got "Fiesta! Fiesta!" (Juice=Juice) and "Peanut Butter Jelly Love" (Country Girls) out of him. Plus his own solo stuff was damn catchy.
