Some of the routines on "Dance Gakuen" seem more difficult lately too, and she's always solid with them.

She will not win, not against all of those other challengers, regardless of whether it’s choreographed or freestyle. At best, she will place somewhere in the middle, if she’s really on her game that day.

She’s there so that they can say exactly what they say in the clip Zunu posted: “Her dancing is beyond what you’d expect of idols.”

Inaba would have been competitive. Sasaki or Akiyama might have been competitive. Ishida is not as good as them, but I think she went instead of them because she's the senior. She’s a member of MM (i.e., the flagship group and the most recognizable to the public), and she's the nominal leader of the Dance Club.

Don’t get me wrong, it should be good publicity regardless of what happens. I can even imagine that she’ll be happy to meet and be included with other dancers whom she’s watched and studied. I’m just a little tired of these variety show setups, and I’m leaning from “what might happen” to “what’s likely to happen”. Fukumura’s taiko challenge is fresh in my mind.

Totally agree that Inaba would be stronger. Alas, she's not in Morning Musume so she's not going to get these kinds of opportunities. There are countless skilled idols in groups nobody's heard of. What makes Ishida a unicorn is that she is in a flagship group. One that, as you say, nobody would expect real talent from.

It's like, say, Lance Bass from NSYNC being invited to Dancing With The Stars, but your much more talented classically trained dancer friend who has a minor recurring role on General Hospital will never get the call. Bass had skills for sure, but not champion level skills.

Speaking of Inaba, I was watching a classic performance by Aichan the other day and it struck me that Manakan is really the only one in H!P these days with that level of stage presence. She and Ai are women whose preternatural physical grace stood out from early on, whereas with Ayumi, she has talent, but I would say that her strongest points are that she's competitive and really puts in the work.

Morning Musume. '21 appeared on Utacon around the same time last year.

Morning Musume. '22 was scheduled to perform "Beat no Wakusei" tonight with a live band on NHK Utacon, but they decided cancel their appearance due to Fukumura Mizuki testing positive in her antigen test.

Fukumura Mizuki, tested positive for the antigen this morning.
We contacted the public health center today and she is undergoing PCR testing at the designated hospital.

As of now, the other members of the group are not experiencing any problems, but as a result of discussions with the program, we have decided to cancel Morning Musume. '22's appearance on NHK's "Utacon", which was scheduled to be broadcasted live today.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and concern this may cause to our supporters and the people involved in the program.
We will continue to place the highest priority on safety and will take all possible measures to prevent the spread of infection.
