Probably of no interest to anyone but TotallyUncool, but...

I saw X at the Independent in San Francisco last night. Great show (as always), even though they didn't play a couple of my favorite songs. I was in the front row, slightly left of center, and I managed to snag the set list between John and Exene. But even better, during "Dancing with Tears in My Eyes", Exene took my hand and we danced together — to the extent that a person on an elevated stage can dance with one who isn't.

This was my 17th time seeing X proper, but I've seen enough spinoff projects and solo performances that this was my 32nd time seeing Exene onstage since my first time in 1986. That's nothing compared to some of the hardcore fans I was talking to in the front row, one who had driven up from San Diego and another who had come out all the way from Boston!

I was going to make an updated version of the H!P plop banner only to realize that Beyooooonds are in the same outfits still. They are very much due for a single soon.

And somehow, the multiverse is so big and complicated that X and Beyooooonds fit quite naturally together in it. And my ずっと 16-20歳 brain sees this as perfectly normal, as if time doesn't really exist.

I've tried to figure out how an X (US) / X Japan crossover would work. I can almost imagine it - maybe X Japan could cover songs like "In This House That I Call Home", "The Hungry Wolf", or even "The Unheard Music", and X (US) could do "Weekend", "Rusty Nail", and "Kurenai". I could definitely imagine them doing "Rusty Nail" - and X Japan could do a 35-minute version of "Back to the Base".
