I hope your mom's back surgery turns out well Moh, and gives her lasting relief. When my Mom had severe chronic pain it was like sometimes they didn't give her enough painkillers which was bad, but then sometimes they did give her enough painkillers, which was bad in a different way. It's better when they can resolve that dilemma by relieving the source of the pain; I'll have my fingers crossed.

And congrats on the InvisAlign, Shoujo Q!

1st surgery went well! Doc said the cage in her lower back was very loose; he replaced it with a larger one and made sure it was secure. Thanks for all of the well wishes. :thumbs-up:

Just an updoot.

I was actually at the dentist longer than expected. My first appointment was quick but got the bad news because of a 1/2 millimeter gap I wasn’t done with the Invisalign on my top teeth. My bottom are set though so that was a good thing. But I’ll be stuck in my plastic cages for another month or so.

But they allowed me to go do my dental work! I was in the seat from 12 till a little after 3. No breaks. XD So much numb juice. I couldn’t feel half my face. lol Thankfully since both of my dentists are in the same network they called each other to let them know I was going to be late for my last appointment. I got home around 5 that night.

In other news I got a raise at work, not much but with what’s been going on and the stress I’ve been under, it’s very appreciated. I need more bodies but there are none to be had because no one wants to work, literally, anywhere. There’s a damn IC shortage that is starting to hit us hard. Buying 2nd hand ICs is such a gamble but we need to keep customers happy.

Funny enough we make a part to make ICs. So I find that comical in a way.

I hope the supply chain can right itself up soon. Spending thousands of dollars for stuff that use to cost next to nothing is insane for a tiny company like mine.

Things are returning back to normal here. I've been going out a lot, and it's still weird walking outside without a mask on. It definitely helps when it's hot as hell here though. It's even weirder to be in shops and restaurants where even the staff isn't wearing a mask anymore.

Last week I was at a beer garden watching the France vs. Germany game (been obsessed with the whole Euro 2020 tournament), and it was packed. That was probably my first time in a packed crowd in a long time.

I still have some unvaccinated family members, so I have to think about how I'm going to deal with getting out and going places. I backed out of a get-together with some people from one of my writing groups this weekend - if I were living by myself, I'd go, but for the moment, I'm still being extra-cautious. I do want to start easing into normal life (whatever that's going to be) pretty soon, though.

They're finally giving us raises at the university starting in July too, after a year of salary and hiring freezes during the pandemic. They're modest but something, especially to fight the rising inflation!!

Things basically are normal here. Hardly anyone wears a mask anywhere anymore. It's a bit jarring how sudden it seems, but it's something we'll have to get used to, and I think I'm slowly coming along. Vaccination rates are relatively low in my state, but at least in my town/county we're one of the highest, and infection rates are quite low.
