Glancing out the window at the right time this evening, I saw four ducks fly into my yard! They briefly did some... duck stuff... then two of the males took off. Now the couple are resting in the back corner behind the tree you can see in this pic.
It was hot today so we have a kiddie pool filled with water closer to the back porch, so I hope they end up deciding to make use of it before they take their leave. ^^

No ducks to speak of here, but I went to IKEA in Atlanta last week. Pretty decent view from the living room section!

If I'm feeling up to it, I'll be checking out DeSoto Caverns this week.

Also... I got my 2nd Pfizer dose on Friday! My arm still freakin' hurts. XD Post-vaccine side effects and allergies don't go well together, either.

Well, it looks like my samsung laptop is ready to be taken out behind the shed and put down. The replacement battery has also started to swell up and is threatening to explode and spray acid on me. So, I am now looking for a new laptop. Does anyone want to flex their 'leet PC skills? While I don't play graphic intensive games I do study chess with the PC so processing power is a must.

Also, is it possible to back up the old PC to a hard drive, back up the new PC to a hard drive, and then restore my old PC to the new PC?

In 2021, unless you need touchscreen capability or play graphically intensive games, then your overall best bang for the buck is probably buying a Macbook Air, which will run PC software with Parallels Desktop or Boot Camp. I'm not a mac user so I can't tell you how easy it is to transfer over the settings but it looks simple enough on the Parallels website. It basically runs most Windows software (excepting accelerated graphics games) faster than an actual Windows machine, and the battery life is incredible. If a real Windows machine is your preference then the HP Spectre x360 is highly rated. Lisa likes it, anyway. With a Windows machine, the answer to your backup question is definitely yes. However, if you're looking for a 100% smooth, completely worry-free migration, my limited experience is, don't count on it, regardless of which machine you buy.

If you do get a Windows laptop, I'd suggest that 8 GB as an absolute minimum and more if the price differential is reasonable.

And I wouldn't worry too much about processing power. Even a halfway decent phone will easily trounce any human player with Stockfish/Droidfish.

I am, and I can answer most questions you might have. I use both Parallels Desktop (for work) and Boot Camp (for games).

Parallels Desktop 16.5 includes support for the M1 chip, but if you want to run Windows on it then you need Windows 10 for ARM, which is not available for retail sale. At least not yet.

Hi Guys,

Just moved to my home half a year ago and with spring around the corner it is time to start shaping the garden.

Of course it will be a Japanese themed garden. It is a small garden, but I wanted some nice flowers. Especially since Japan has so many flower festivals. Which flowers do you guys recommend to place in a Japanese garden?
