It's a great (and beautiful) city (OK, I was born there, so I may be a bit biased, but still...), with so many things to see and do, and yes, the food is first-rate!

The city is still slowly reopening, so you should definitely research what's open and when. The Asian Art Museum, for instance, is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The Cartoon Art Museum is only open Saturdays and Sundays. (I recommend both.) Over on my side of the Bay, a lot of restaurants are still only doing take-out and delivery, but those that have facilities for outdoor dining are generally doing it. Only a smattering are open for indoor dining. It's probably similar in San Francisco.

When I was a kid, we'd usually go back to San Francisco once a year, and one of my favorite spots (along with the museums and Chinatown) was the Japanese Tea Garden. I'm glad to see that it's still there and doing well.

To those of you who use iPhones and iPads, I strongly recommend that you check the privacy labels on whatever apps you have installed…

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211970
https://developer.apple.com/app-store/app-privacy-details/

I've been checking mine, some of which I've had installed for years, and it's shocking how many of them take personal data for no legitimate reason. If it doesn't enable the functionality of the app in a specific and obvious way, then they don't need it and we shouldn't give it to them.

And besides, at the end of the day, many apps are just frontends for web services that we can already access through the browser. They're not much more than glorified bookmarks.

I got a message last night that I’ll be contacted today about signing up for a Covid shot. And of course it’s a week earlier than what I want. My last weekly allergy shot is next week. But I’ll manage I guess. If I can make an appointment for later in the week. I’m thinking Thursday/Friday are my sweet spot days to get a Covid shot but also not mess with my allergy shot. If I don’t sign up today I get thrown back on the list, probably at the bottom.

Hopefully you'll have your choice of days for the Covid shot!

Hey this is maybe a weird question to ask here, but does anyone know what's going on with mm-bbs? Their website has been down (with a very in-character "be back soon" message :hehe: ) for over a month now.

MMBBS got hacked so I think they took it down to fix issues?

I got my Covid shot appointment for this Saturday so I was able to call my allergist and move my appointment for them out to Thursday. Chances are high that I’ll be getting the Moderna shot.

Yesterday, my family went on a road trip to San Diego. We have not had a chance to do it since ya know, covid. We went to see the Flower Fields in Carlsbad. Took 3 hours drive. So many people. The flowers are full bloom.

After an hour drive, we went down to Seaport in Downtown San Diego to check out the ocean breeze. It felt so good .The ocean breeze and blue sky was refreshing and clean. We got ice cream along the way as well.

After that, another long drive to La Jolla. We got to check out the seals on the beach. They were just chilling. My family was too exhausted. We had another 3 hour drive back home. We came home and I did my Hello Dream report and I just completely knocked out after.

I have some pictures of the seals if I get it.

okay.

There was a bit about that on the local news up here in the Bay Area just last night.

I'm looking forward to traveling again. The stamp show (Westpex) and the fantasy literature conference (Mythcon) that I attend nearly every year were both cancelled last year, of course, but they're supposedly happening this year. In order to make Westpex more of a possibility, they moved it from spring to summer. Unfortunately, they chose the same weekend as Mythcon! Since Westpex is in Burlingame, CA, and this year's Mythcon is in Albuquerque, NM, I can't do both.
