This is the first time in a while they haven't had an FAQ about it being okay to apply if you've also applied to the Hello Pro Kenshuusei audition though. I don't know if that's oversight or if there just isn't a KSS audition happening. Probably doesn't make a difference.

applications for Kenshuusei auditions have been put on hold since October 2020. So the only way to get into Kenshuusei is if you were recommended by Upfront to join after a major audition.

If they referred to the three added Tsubaki members as 2nd Gen going forward, it would feel more like they were retconning it at this point. But it really doesn’t matter. I don’t think the original intent when those three were added was to make Tsubaki a generational group. I think the group felt like something was missing so they added the three before debut. I think they decided recently to make it a generational group after talking with the members. The end result is the same, but I think it’s misleading to assume this was always the plan for them. That’s like saying J=J and S/mileage were always meant to be generational. They weren’t, but they are now.

Also you can pretty much assume EVERY audition is simultaneously a KSS audition since the losers are almost always offered the opportunity even if they don’t always take it.

Yeah true, Juice=Juice for a long time had been a 5 member group AND they used to have fruits for colours? Apple Lemon Melon Grape and Peach (Orange for Aina before she left) . That only changed when Country Girls did that shuffle thing and then they just got rid of the fruit colour thing and just gave new members regular colours while the OGs still had their fruit names

I think S/mileage is the closest to similar situation with Tsubaki Factory in terms of adding members,
True they were technically added after S/mileage debuted, I think like Jessi said the group was missing something

If anything, Mizuho, Saori and Mao weren’t coined as a second generation just as Ruru and Nanami weren’t coined as a second generation. They were just called New Members
