I forwarded it to various linguist friends. I wish I could have sent it to my Indo-European professor, who passed away in 2019.

^ It blows my mind that it's already been over nine years since I went to Aichan's grad concert at Budōkan. (I didn't get the concert t-shirt until two months ago! XD )

My parents got the vaccine by appointment. They decided to get the Moderna vaccine over the pfizer one. pfizer may be a little too strong for them.

Japan will start getting their vaccines by next week starting with the medical workers and seniors.

I was wondering when Japan would start getting the vaccine. I wonder why they waited so long?

I just got a flu shot on Monday and I think this is the first time I’ve ever not had a reaction to it. I’m in the middle of a weekly allergy shot regime and when I went to get my weekly shot on Tuesday they were concerned I had gotten the Covid shot. Apparently I need to let them know if I do? Good to know.

One of my coworkers is out for two weeks because her husband has Covid. It’s the first close contact case in our company. We’re very small but it was only a matter of time. She tested negative on Sunday but she’s not feeling well so went to get another test. But we haven’t heard from her yet so I’ll take that as a good sign.

I’m hoping my mother can get the shot soon. She’s got a chronic cough since after her stroke in 2019 and every time she gets into a coughing fit it worries me that she’s coming down with Covid. She’s had about a dozen tests and even had a through check of her lungs. But she’s fine. It just sounds like she’s dying every time she coughs. I think it’s a nerve issue but because of Covid the doctors are kind of holding off now with it. The more times she goes to the hospital equals more exposure time with potential Covid.

That’s what happened to my friend. She broke her foot this meaning she had to go to the hospital and that was all it took for her to get it. She was super careful too. Essentially quarantined since March. She was high risk. Thankfully it didn’t get into her lungs but she’s super tired and that’s not ideal when you have a 2 year old at home. But I’m glad she’s better now.

I wish my parents could get it, but they're not ~old enough~ for it right now. Alabama is focused on vaccinating people 65+; mom is 61, dad is 64. :| Both of them have pre-existing conditions (asthma, hypertension) and my mom is immunocompromised due to her RA medication, so I especially worry about what would happen if she caught it.
I have pre-existing conditions too, but since I'm 26, I'm not high on the priority list for a vaccine at all.

Since I'm on the subject of pre-existing conditions...
I went to my nurse practitioner today for a foot issue (nothing major!) and ended up talking to her about hypertension. I knew I had a good chance of getting it since it runs deep in both sides of my family, but I didn't anticipate it hitting so soon.
My BP actually used to be really good; it's just gone to crap within the last few months. So she's trying me on low dose hydrochlorothiazide for now! We'll see what happens with that.

^ It's the same situation with my mom, under 65 but compromised (and so far my dad, even though he is over 65 and diabetic). I'm not that surprised since we live in a small city that's usually on the lower end of most things, but it is irritating.

I hope the meds help your BP!
