I saw the new gastroenterologist last week. He was polite, said my labs looked good, and I don't have to go back for another 6 months unless I start having any problems.
Got refills on my meds and immediately hit a snafu with the most important one for my UC. Mesalamine is one of the most commonly prescribed medications for it, and that stuff is not cheap.
I've been on it for almost 4 years, and thankfully all my past insurance plans had a $0 copay on it. My new one has it listed as a non-preferred drug with a 45% coinsurance. I would've been charged around $300 for a month's supply.*
I had to call their office and ask for an alternative; they sent in sulfasalazine, which basically works the same way. And it costs nothing! I'm hoping it'll work cause I definitely can't afford $300 every time I get a refill on mesalamine.

*I tried looking on Good RX and other sites like it; it would've been over twice the price if I used one of them. I applied for extra help through the SSA, but I don't know if I'll hear back about that anytime soon.

I went through a bunch of substitutes for one of my blood-pressure meds, because my insurance company wouldn't cover it, and it was still under patent. The substitutes were generally OK, but when a generic version of the original drug becme available, I switched back to it.

It appears that a vexing problem has returned. Several years ago some idiot next door decided that it was a good idea to open an after hours club at his apartment (which is less than ten feet from my apartment) and play loud music starting at 2AM. The problem eventually ended when the idiot moved out at the end of the school year. The last two nights the problem has returned. The music is not as loud, but it is chaotic enough to prevent me from sleeping from 2AM to 5AM. It's time to yell at their out of state landlord (who can't really do anything) and to call the police an lodge a complaint every subsequent time they do this (which will be very often because this is a money operation).

Crawling out of the ether to wish Amped a happy birthday!! Hope you're able to get the computer situation squared away soon. Phones are great, but there are definitely a lot of things that are tedious af to do on them.
