They performed Ganbarenai yo at Miyamoto Karin's Graduation concert and then at the "Hello! Project Year-End Party 2020 ~GOOD BYE & HELLO!" with the hot new outfits


DOWN TOWN is a cover song originally by "Sugar Babe", Yamashita Tatsuro's band (The only single they released together). Juice=Juice performed it at opening day of "Hello! Project 2021 Winter ~STEP BY STEP~" concert.

The release of the single was announced in a comment video posted on the group's official Twitter account. "Ganbarenai yo / DOWN TOWN" is the first single released by Juice=Juice in about a year and the first single after Inoue Rei joined the group. The single includes the new ballad song "Ganbarenai yo", which was first performed at the graduation performance of Miyamoto Karin, and a cover of the 1975 famous song "DOWN TOWN" by Sugar Babe, a band formed by singer/songwriter Tatsuro Yamashita and others. To make it a 2021 style cover, Swedish producer Anders Dannvik doing the city pop arrangements for the song is also a highlight. It also features voice percussion by Inoue Rei.

The amount of content on the whole is quite extensive. A lot of value for money.
My only gripe would be the lack of a Blu-ray edition, but hey, can't have everything.

My first reaction was "oh, those are reminiscent of (C-ute's) Middle Management outfits," and I thought it in a very positive way.

The mint dresses are pretty as well and I think I've commented before that they're very Tsubaki though.

I'm looking forward to hearing their version of "DOWN TOWN" since I like the original, and I'm still surprised by how much I enjoy "Ganbaranai.." in general. This single is already looking pretty solid to me.

^In general, I get the impression that Japan LOVES covers. So many cover albums over all the years and all... And especially lately, so many veteran artists are releasing cover albums so it seems to be "in" right now.
What's fun is that H!P doesn't do the most common ones (except for during the ballad concerts) but we get new types of covers for singles, and foreign ones at that sometimes!
