I celebrated today by making the nine-mile trek to the nearest Outback Steakhouse. It was only my second time eating inside a restaurant since the (limited) return of indoor dining and the first time I've had steak and lobster in years. Combined with the "oil can" of Foster's Lager and a huge slice of cheesecake with raspberry sauce, it nearly put me into a food coma. :)

I've got cheesecake, crawdad tail meat, and beef tamales in the freezer, so I could almost do the stay-at-home equivalent, but I know it wouldn't be quite the same! XD

I actually do want to figure out something interesting to do with the crawdad meat before it gets too freezer-burned, but I haven't quite figured out what.

A lot of it really is just the experience of going out, especially after being unable to do so for so long. I can cook up an excellent steak at home, for far less money, and I did that as recently as a week ago. My latest experimental (but very successful) marinade: Kikkoman Chili Ponzu, Seagram's 7, Lawry's Seasoned Salt, and freshly ground pepper.

A multiplex about a mile from the restaurant reopened just before Halloween, so I toyed with the idea of seeing my first movie in a theater since March 14th, as well. I'm glad I didn't, since I almost certainly would have fallen asleep. And word on the street is that it's impossible to understand Tenet with only one viewing, even if you're awake and paying close attention. XD

Tenet's coming out soon-ish for home video, so might as well hold out, I mean unless you really want that big screen experience.

I'll most likely just do that, since it wasn't on my must-see-right-away list, anyway.

Everyone, watch out for package thieves. They follow around Amazon delivery cars and circle around the neighborhood and they snatch it before anyone notices and drive off in a getaway. The Amazon delivery guy doesn't even ring the doorbell when dropping off packages. Yesterday, we and our neighbors were victims of package thieves, 10 minutes after a package was dropped off. Make sure you guys have cameras.

I recommend having your Amazon shipments delivered to an Amazon Hub, if there is one near you. I wouldn't call it "life-changing", but it certainly has been less worrisome / more convenient for me. You get automatic notifications when shipments are delivered, and you have several days to pick them up.

Agreed. After having a delivery stolen once, I always use my neighborhood Amazon locker.

Autumn has finally arrived with a vengeance. We were enjoying a nice Indian summer up until yesterday, and then a mean-looking storm front came through yesterday afternoon and evening. Now it's cold and blustery as far out as the forecast goes, and we'll probably have our first hard freeze this Friday night.

We had a similar shift here this past weekend, when it cooled down considerably and even rained a bit. The weather isn't as extreme here in the S.F. Bay Area, of course, but my local temperatures have gone from a 60–80℉ range on Thursday to a 40–60℉ range today.
