I want to buy a condo but I’ve been too busy to look into any of it, although I have close friends that know about real estate. People will probably think I’m crazy for getting a small condo in DC for the price of a whole house elsewhere but that’s what I want.

My credit score has been going up dramatically since last year, and I have no more credit card debt from the struggling days, and much of my student loans will be taken care of through teaching. Well, I’ve also been working with almost no real day off for over a year now. Looks like we’ll be dealing with the pandemic for a while so I’m ok with treating this like time to just focus on my own life.

If you're in a position to buy, there's a lot to be said for it!

I feel like I should have been taking time during this prolonged plague year to do some creative work (writing, etc.), but so far, it seems like I've been letting everything else get in the way - and yes, that really does sound like a bad excuse on my part.

Anyway, tomorrow's stop is Heflin, AL! It's about 20 minutes from the new house, so it's a pretty convenient location.

Got it refunded... We didn't get good vibes from it, you couldn't even go into the front office for anything, and nobody working there was wearing a mask.
They were really polite, though. Didn't give us any trouble! And it freed up a couple rooms. The remnants of Zeta went through the area and a lot of people still don't have power.
A tree fell in the backyard of our new house but thankfully the actual house is alright. The sellers are supposed to take care of it before closing. I think power is still out in the neighborhood, though.

So instead we're in Gadsden! Which is just fine; I like it out here and actually know where some stuff is, lol. The drive was so gorgeous.


We're supposed to drop into the mid-30s for lows on Monday and Tuesday. It's awesome to be able to wear a jacket again!

I can't even imagine the mid-30s right now - the high here was around 90F today!

It snowed here the other day and dropped into the 20s. The weather has since autocorrected itself and went back into the 50s/60s.

But Halloween was a bummer. So I went out to eat instead. Which was also a bummer, horribly slow service and cold food. Oh well. m

Clocks fell back an hour today so now my entire sleep schedule will be thrown off for a couple of weeks. Yay! @_@

The weather here has been glorious. We had a high of 75℉ yesterday, so I spent a few hours proofreading out in the yard.

I managed to hack through a fair amount of my backlog of things to do during two months without work and five months part-time (supplemented by freelancing), but it still seems like I've only scratched the surface. Now I'm returning to full-time work, so I've missed my window of opportunity to make more progress.

And I actually did manage to get some writing done - I don't know how long I'll be able to keep it up, but I got that far!

House acquired. (Well, acquired yesterday, but we spent the night at the hotel.)

My dad is installing a new toilet in the hall bath, and then he has to snake the P trap for the shower. We have Lowe's here right now delivering a new washer and dryer. :O

We need to find our modem/router to get the internet connected; Dish is coming out tomorrow for the TVs and we kiiiinda need the internet for that!

We need new appliances, though the [small] fridge here is fairly new. Pretty sure this ancient dishwasher had a leak cause all the lower cabinets have some kinda mold. So we definitely gotta get new cabinets too.
