My brother was complaining of stomach pain on Thursday; it went away for a few hours but came back overnight. He went to the ER yesterday (Friday) around 12PM and ended up in surgery a little after 5:30PM. Emergency appendectomy!
He called once he got into a room after recovery; he sounded groggy but otherwise okay. Surgery was laparoscopic but took longer than normal; his appendix was attached to his cecum, so the surgeon had to be very careful and stitch the cecum after removing the appendix.

I'm just glad he's okay and was able to get it done so fast. He should be home tomorrow.

Appendix issues have always seemed scary to me. I hope he has a quick recovery!

Well, he got to come home after 2 nights in the hospital. Aside from post-surgical pain, he's doing fine. The smallest incision bled a little bit after he had a shower, but apparently that's normal.

His WBC count was elevated so they kept him Saturday night. That got resolved after getting some IV antibiotics. Then they said his potassium was too low and that they might have to keep him Sunday night. It was only half a point below normal.
My parents went to visit, and...

...the hospital was real quick to discharge him once my mom said "he doesn't have a job; his insurance just ended today."*

Technically he still has insurance. WDW scheduled him for work this week. He gave them notice 2 weeks ago and apparently nobody has seen it.

*I'm not gonna debate about healthcare in the United States, but I think that was rather convenient.

Wow, we're moving at the end of the month. Crazy! I got 3 boxes packed today and need to buy some more before I can pack anything else.
I'm getting my first knee injection (Hyalgan) on Tuesday and 2 more over the next 2 weeks. I hope they last long enough for me to find some specialists up there. I'm gonna check UAB since it's only an hour from the house.

Also, good to hear about catching the appendix in time. Always a scary thing; my friend had to get it removed when we were in highschool.

Had my first Hyalgan injection on Tuesday. It went deeper than the steroid shot I had last year, but was honestly not quite as uncomfortable? Maybe because this one didn't involve cold spray, lol.
It's popped and cracked a lot, but feels okay otherwise. It's too soon to tell if it's really working. My 2nd one is on the 20th; the 3rd and final one is on the 27th. He did say most people usually feel results after the 2nd one.

My dad and brother took quite a few boxes up to a storage unit near the new house. My brother took video of the backyard. It's huge!
I still can't believe we're leaving Florida. Buuut I'm also aware that the deadline to be out of the house is fast approaching. (2 weeks!!)

I still have to buy a cable modem router, too...
