^ When Google Translate is being unreasonable, I usually try DeepL (deepl.com/translator), which is going to inevitably have the same issues with lack of context, but in terms of vocabulary it's generally at least a bit better, often much better.

Here are some of the reviews shown in the video (transcription errors mine), and Google's, then Deep L's versions of them.

The 10th of every month is a pork bones day, and you can eat oppezan ramen for 500 yen.

When I was parked in the next parking lot, an old lady here said something I didn't know what to say, but I was angry. Very unpleasant.

When I parked in the parking lot next to this one, a woman who looked like an old lady here said something to me, I didn't understand what she was saying, but she had an angry tone of voice. Very unpleasant.

If anyone knows folks in Texas or Louisiana, now would be a really good time to check up on them. Hurricane Laura went from a cat 1 to a cat 4 in less than 24 hours.

It looks really scary, and the storm surges that they're predicting are so big that they don't even seem real!

I don’t know anyone in Louisiana but one of the companies we do work for is there where the storm is hitting. Hope they are okay.

Huh. My parent office and many of my co-workers are in the Austin area, and Laura missed them completely. It was already turning northeast even before landfall. I'm more likely to get hit by it, here in Michigan — in fact, looking at the weather forecast, I think that's what's coming tomorrow afternoon and evening. If not the remnants of Laura itself, then another system either stirred up by or pushed ahead of it. We're currently in a late-summer heat wave that's due to break anyhow, and it doesn't take much.

Nope, not even close. Laura is winding down over Arkansas. The pop-up thunderstorms passing through my area right now are a separate thing, and the bigger system moving in from Minnesota is what I really need to worry about.

I mean, considering where Austin is located and what the storm's predicted path was, it isn't that surprising. :fear:

I'm on my way home to Florida. Miss my bed, miss my shower, miss my dog.

We were in Gadsden on Wednesday. Pretty area. We looked at a historic house that was within our budget, but quickly figured out it would need someone with extremely deep pockets to restore it properly.
Anyway, there was a woman at the house across the street, and she let us pet her dogs! Highlight of my week, lol.
