The cat spent 90% of the last two weeks willingly living in one bedroom and more or less only coming out when the dog was tucked into another or was sleeping hard enough to not hear the doors open (except at night, when he was once again given free reign of the house). He was given lots of extra attention, treats, brushings, etc.
She has a cat at home too and they get along fine, so I'm sure if our cat wasn't so averse it would've been alright. But our guy was found abandoned on the street with a terrible bite from a large dog, and we've never had other pets alongside him. He probably thinks the world would be a better place if dogs, children
(my god does he hate kids), litter boxes, and rustling plastic bags just didn't exist.
