By the way, this is what my YT recommendations looked like when the song was playing. I don't even question the inclusion of White Angel by the Fairies; at this point, it makes perfect sense.

You know what really gets my goat? Goats! But besides that, it's all the zillions of times people come up to me in the street, on mountaintops, while I'm filing my toenails on the bus, etc., asking what the love-child of Frederic and Otsuka Ai would sound like. HOW THE FROTS SHOULD I KNOW?

That was an oddly specific way to describe that sound. I definitely get the Frederic vibes, though. I was a little surprised to see English CC on there!

Dreamcatcher released a "moombahton rock" track, BOCA. It's not my fave title track, but far from my least. The real star of the mini is Break The Wall, which reminds me of early/mid 2000s emo-rock.
I can appreciate BOCA's lyrics, though. Scream was about bullies, BOCA is about shutting them up.


ITZY's songs usually have to grow on me, but I've been obsessed with Not Shy since the first listen, lol. And robbing a truck for delicious desserts? I could probably get behind that.

The "DanshaISM" preview. That parapara/eurobeat-ish pre-verse? The fast almost-rap singing? That super nostalgic sounding chorus (gives me a bit of a SweetS feeling)? I'm already in love.

on the 8/23 episode of COOL JAPAN show, they explore the appeal of "Japanese songs" from a foreigner's point of view. Marty Friedman was a guest on the show. He says JPOP can't compete with KPOP yet in the world.

Asian boy band music isn't really my thing but anyway here's SHELLY by WATWING. The tune is catchy I guess but the lead singer's upper register is barely there, and there's a weird timing blip in the song where right after the first chorus it seems like they take an extra beat to restart the main A verse, and it annoys me.



Also, with Ice Cream, BLACKPINK finally figured out a way to make me watch one of their videos all the way through multiple times
