Airi "Even though she was the top batter, I was still impressed until the end. If you look at the current atmosphere, the impression has changed again, so I look forward to the performance again."
Natsume "This was the most difficult song among the song choices. It was difficult because there were a lot of black keys in the piano in a Latin tune.

The thing that Airi wants to see from idols is not singing and dancing skills, but "idol aura"



Makoto Award (Character Award): Onoda Karin
Makoto-san "I was impressed by the adult-like costumes and challenging spirit"
Karin "It was a difficult song, so it was difficult because the actual performance was frustrating, but I'm glad I chose it."


Singing Award : Kubota Nanami
"There were a lot of uneasy points that I didn't think I could get the singing award, because I was not good at singing, but I was glad to sing the song I really wanted to sing.


Dance Award : Tamenaga Shion
"My goal is to wear stilettos (not to say that heels are good), so at a concert, I have to continue about 26 songs."
Shion "I wish I could have practiced with more attention to my core, but I think that I should perform a dance that I love more."

Thanks to unreliable internet, a cat, stream troubles, and a phone call, I wasn't able to watch everything. I'm reserving most of my final thoughts for a rewatch (if it becomes available).

What I was able to see was encouraging though, this group of Kenshuusei as a whole seem very solid. And costume game was on point this year from start to finish. it's crazy how the self-styling has evolved since the first event.

I finally watched it and...

I was honestly shocked when Karin started singing, I had no idea she had improved so much! And Shion's heels! I was honestly very impressed!

All in all, I was very impressed. The ones I expected to do well did well, the others showed good improvement compared to last year, and the new KSS did really well (Runo in particular stood out to me).

Congrats to Kanami for winning! I'm a bit sad Kirara didn't win, but at the same time, I felt like I expected better from her performance. It was very good, but I feel like she could have done more.

Watched everything last night and apart from the wildly different atmosphere, it was really enjoyable and fun! Posting my thoughts under the spoiler!!

I was surprised at how good most of the younger girls are! Apart from Uemura Hasumi who looked so nervous I thought she'd cry, I was deeply impressed. Especially by Yofuu Runo and Kitahara Momo! Runo gives me 80's idols vibes, specifically Yamase Mami. I'm definitely going to pay more attention to both of them, as well as Hashida Honoka and Nishizaki Miku who were just adorable.

Props to Kisaki for performing her song TWICE!! Both times she seemed really energetic and was smiling throughout. She has very pretty eyes and a cute fang-y smile.
Oh, and I can't help but tear up each time I watch Yuliya. Not only is she getting better and better, but both her dedication and energy are palpable! Plus she's just really, really cute. When she threw out those ribbons (?) I nearly choked up. I feel like I'm watching my daughter at her first band recital.

Ruli is what people would call ザ・アイドル. She's not the best at singing but she's a great dancer, was wearing the most idol-y costume by far and her energy is infectious!!

I had some trouble deciding who to vote for. Was considering either Natsume or Yuki, but ended up voting for Yuki as her vocal performance was fantastic. She's good at projecting her voice as well as singing low tones, if she gets that breath control and rhythm on pat she'll likely become another H!P utahime. Natsume should debut soon though, I adore her stage presence.

Lastly, I feel disappointed by Kirara and Madoka's performances. I was sincerely looking forward to them but they both seemed really nervous, or just out of it. I don't know. Hopefully this doesn't discourage them though. I'd hate to see Kirara leave although I wouldn't really blame her either.

I've seen a ton of people with the opinion that she did well but should have picked a different song. Something more memorable. I'd probably agree, even though I like the song she picked. Her performance was solid enough, but I think people's expectations were high considering her level / it's her 5th year.
