I just had a realization that if this single was in the works before the pandemic halted everything, that may be why Funakki has been unable to graduate.

Yes, if she already appears on the single and in the MVs, and if the release of the single is merely postponed rather than canceled, then she might be contractually obligated to stay until the release cycle is completed. Or, if not obligated then strongly incentivized; her final payout might be contingent upon it.

She said she wanted to study dance after she graduated, but that plan must have been put on hold along with everything else in the world, so it probably costs her nothing to stay and do this.
