Going outside really does feel weird. Here's a normally busy street in my neighborhood, Thursday at 2:25 pm.

Same. Kinda feel like I've been (sort of) preparing for this my whole life. :fear:

I went to Walgreens today to get some movies from the Redbox and that was enough of an outing for me. They have taped lines inside the store telling customers how far back to stand.
My mom had to pretty much light into a couple behind her at the pharmacy cause they were too close, and their response was "Oh, so that's a real thing?" :|

One of our neighbors doesn't understand the concept of ~personal space~ anyway, but now she keeps trying to come over while she's sick.

Same. I see some people flipping out while I'm just: "let me introduce you to the wonderful world of... just staying at home" :giggle:

I've switched back and forth between stay-at-home-intro and go-out-and-do-things-extro since I was a teenager (which is every bit as unstable as it sounds), and it's easy for me to fall into stay-at-home mode.

I consider myself an introvert as well, but even so I enjoy sitting in cafes, meeting up with close friends, going to movies etc. Just sitting around the house all day surrounded by books and computer screens gets old real quick. On the other hand I have to consider myself fortunate that I'm not required to risk my health going into work like some people.

Going out for walks seems to be the thing to do around here. I see so many more people out and about. I plan I’m taking my mother out for a walk today. They are threatening snow tomorrow so today will be the last day till probably later this week. She’s semi self isolating herself because of her age.

People keep saying we might shelter in place but the governor keeps saying no, not yet. He has no plans to do it. I guess they are waiting to see how we fair? I’ve been watching our numbers rise but they aren’t as bad as other larger states. It’s a waiting game really. A lot of the older population leave to go south for the winter and I honestly hope they just stay where they are.

In other news, my uncle passed away Friday. It was very sad because I was supposed to go with my Dad and his brother to go see him last week but due to the virus we couldn’t fly down. He had congestive heart failure. So nothing to do with this. But now we’ll have to wait till all this starts dying down before we and they can have a proper memorial.

Same on all of that. I’m out of anything I want to watch on TV. I spend too much time browsing for things to watch while doing my freelance work.

Schools here are closed until at least April 27th now.

What I should do is write a couple of novels, and maybe put a couple of books of short stories and critical essays up on Amazon. What I'm more likely to do is dig through the huge backlog of stuff that I've downloaded over the years and watch old episodes of H!M and Utaban (or maybe just random Jpop performances and unsubbed Siao Fongfong movies) until I start to lose my mind.

I am SOOOOOOOOOO far from reaching that point! In my Netflix streaming list alone, I have 40 seasons of shows waiting to be watched. In addition to that, I have more than a few unwatched box sets of TV series on DVD and Blu-ray stacked up in my living room. A few days ago I started Season 1 of Dark Angel, which I hadn't watched since its original run, twenty (!) years ago.

I ventured into the outside world today, for the first time since Thursday afternoon. Buses are running, but passengers have to go through the back door and keep their distance from the driver. As a result, nobody is paying fares. The 99¢ Only store had toilet paper, the first I've seen in any store in over a week. Limit two 12-packs per customer.

Oh, and would someone please tell the crows in my neighborhood that it's COVID, not CORVID!

:crying: Slim's nightclub and music venue in San Francisco is history. Closed and will not be re-opening.
